FFXI reboots computer after 5min of play EVERY TIME!Follow

Hello! My name is Liz, I go by Draikekun on FFXI. Recently I have had a problem getting FFXI to work for me and I was hoping you all (the "experts"!) might be able to help me out.

I start up POL and login, and then login as my character on FFXI. About five minutes of playing as my character, my computer reboots all on its own - no lag beforehand, no warning, it just reboots! Even when I am not using outside programs - for instance, keeping Skype running under it, or using Windower with it.

Yesterday I was trying to do the Sttarlight Event (by the way, can someone tell me where to get information on that? It's very confusing!) and I just couldn't do it. My computer rebooted somewhere between nine and thirteen times while I fought to keep FFXI on yesterday. I have scanned with three different virus deletion programs, and they got some nasty stuff on my computer and deleted it, bu the problem persists.

It is not just the lag from the cheering people, either. I have two characters, and my other character was out in Ronfaure (sorry if I misspelled that!) and it still rebooted when I was playing as her, as well. Both characters have had the computer reboot when they were in their Moghouses.

This didn't start happening until after the version update. My computer will reboot randomly sometimes, but never this bad before, and if I stay off of FFXI it doesn't reboot or have problems at all!

I'm pretty desperate! I fought the game all of yesterday and don't want to today, but I need my FFXI. You guys understand that, right?

Any help or advice with this issue is greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to listen to me.

Heat issue maybe. Have you checked all of your fans?

If you're running windower and have some 3rd party programs attatched to it, the update might have caused those programs to bug out and make your computer crash. Might want to check for new versions of those.

Checking for spyware would be a good start as well. Start with Adaware if you haven't done that yet. Set the option to fully scan the computer. It is also best to scan in safe mode as well; if you don't know what it is, it's a very minimal Windows to troubleshoot if you have problems. Not all of the processes are running and it helps virus and anti-spyware programs clean up.

To get to safe mode, reboot your computer and start pushing the F8 key. You will come to a menu asking what you want to boot to. Choose Safe Mode with Networking.

Hope you get it fixed.
