Where did Vindictusdb go?Follow

#1 Oct 28 2014 at 2:35 PM Rating: Decent
I've used the site for months, and know a lot of other Vindi players do too. Now I'm getting a 404 message when I try to access it. What happened?

I'm wondering about the same thing. Would be great if it was back online. The game is not dead and always coming up with new content and updates.

I'm sorry, in a recent analysis of site traffic and whatnot it was decided that it was time to put VindictusDB to bed. I will pass your comments up to the People Who Make Decisions and let them know you're really missing it.

PS: You shouldn't be getting a 404 error, however. Let me know if that keeps happening.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do to restore it, or should we plan on making our own database similar to it. This was our most reliable source on the net to go off of, and no other even close to it.
Thanks for the years of support and service to our community.

I've used VindictusDB for years now and am extremely disappointed to see it go. How much would it cost to support the site for a month's worth of traffic? Any chance you could put it back up if members of the Vindictus community donated to cover the server costs?

I don't understand how in the freaking world vindictusdb dies off when everyone uses it :I Proofs?

http://vindictus.nexon.net/Community/#%2Fshowthread.php%3F1302048-VindictusDB%26nxid%3D15

Theres everyone ******** on the vindictus forums about using vindictusdb for years and are bummed that its gone. And theres more posts like that going around. How did this even happen?!
#8 Oct 28 2014 at 11:06 PM Rating: Decent
I can't believe I even made this darned account just to post something like this.
#9 Oct 28 2014 at 11:10 PM Rating: Decent
Maybe we should try petitioning nexonna to buy rights to vindictusdb instead +shy

Please don't punish those who don't "MMO hop" and actually stick with an MMO. We all used this site heavily to do gear set comparisons. At least sell it off to someone so it can remain active. What a waste to just shut it down. The game is still fairly active. I could see if it shut down as well but it didn't.

If it's not making money, it's really hard to justify keeping it open if you're a company that exists to make money. And that sounds like it's more or less the situation they were in.

Well, there's a lot of Vindictus fans out there that used this, and there wasn't even a notice or anything. You know plenty of people still play Vindictus.

The problem being it was shut down without any warning and leaves and entire community hanging. I'm sure there would be enough support if ZAM asked for donations to keep the site running for a few months while we develop an alternative.

Welcome.

Like people above, I registered here only to ask - What the heck is going on here?
We understand that You want make Your profit. But maybe it's time to make it in bit different way?
Or at least You could show on page - "Dear visitors, we need donate to keep alive page".
Otherwise, soon I don't see good future to the rest of Your services...
I don't write it to offend someone - I just FIRST TIME (and probably not only me) see the Zam.com webpage, I didn't even know that VindictusDB was developed by You / Zam.

We are all humans and I think we can get to some compromise.
I don't think You totally don't care about all spend time and hard work to create Vindictus DB.
Everything what we doing we rather don't do only for money, we must like it, at least a bit.:)

So I have few propositions:

- Ask fans or Nexon ( :P ) for some donate, or;

- Find better way for gaining profit, or;

- Hmm, maybe its time to finally oficially inform (or fuse with Official Vindictus) about VindictusDB on ex. Official Vindictus Forums? Because I see that info about existing VindictusDB were given only by fans (not zam.com). So no wonder that around only 10% of players I guess knew about this DB page...? or;

- If You really don't want lead on Vindictus DB anymore, then give us its (f[i]or really interested person in continuing this project or to Nexon
) files and database.
Because You don't need it after all, right?

Kind Regards, Miria.

Please bring back the site, this was the best site out there - the wiki is good but can't compare to extracting data straight from the game files, and there is currently nothing like the item compare available.

I agree there should have been some warning - there could have been efforts to promote the site, perhaps official notice on the Vindictus web site, knowing the site was at risk would get people to actually turn off their ad blockers. I'd even click on your ad banners...

Just made an account to post here. Would be appreciated if you could put VindiDB back up as it was incredibly useful. If you need donations to keep it running then I'm sure there's enough people between Vindi NA and EU who would happily donate.

I'm really sorry that y'all are missing the site. Despite the outcry of support displayed here, the site just wasn't getting much traffic. None of us like sunsetting a site that we've poured a lot of work and love into, but sometimes it has to happen.

You're right, you should have had some notice, and I apologize for our thoughtlessness.

Calthine, is it the hosting or domain you no longer wish to pay for?

If it's the hosting, I can provide you mine for free. How much MB/GB did the site use?
#22 Oct 29 2014 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent
ty for looking into it. We'd really appreciate Vindi DB back on.

This is a great loss to the Vindictus community, if only we had known that the sight was about to go under.

Those randoms are almost always here. They're often just automated programs checking out the web.

Maybe, I can't check each IP / mac number. But if I'm right, this forum save only unique entering in each topic (or enters at a certain time, like one per day), so I don't think You have here more than 100 bots.
You can check it after all.

Anyway, it's not answer to my questions...
You tried dicuss about case in Your Team?:)

For the record, I don't work here. I'm just here all the time. Believe me, a ton of those are bots. There are usually 30+ random guests even at 2am.
