I can say that as of 5/23/12 this quest is STILL in the game. You do receive the quest starter as a reward from Rikantus.

This quest is initiated by reading the book "The Trials of Sir Morgan". This book is rewarded to you at the end of the Scrawlings in the Dark quest.

Kill five Scarecrows in the Thundering Steppes (fields south of Antonica zone in).
Kill 6 sirens in the Thundering Steppes (west coast).
The third step asks you to kill several mobs, which can be found west of Qeynos Tower #4, under a bridge.

6 Revenant Soldiers
4 Revenant Scouts
1 Revenant Commander - standing on a stone at 240, -13, 277

Kill two Fallen Giants. They are found in the Valley of the Ancients, which is a small hidden cove in southwest Thundering steppes. 700, 0, 620
Kill two unbound familiars. These are solo mobs, so it shouldn't be much of a problem. They are found just south of the Ruins of Varsoon near -670, 0, 770 .
Visit the Ring of Talons 170.3, -7.29, 1080.61 . This is in the water in the circle of spires in front of the gnoll cave directly north of the Shrine of Decay. When you get the update, the ghost of Squire Wimbley spawns. You do NOT have to kill him.
After you receive this update it will send you to speak to Rikantus at the Evernight Cemetary in Antonica -1975, 9, 823 to complete the quest.

I received an old book from Rikantus with a short tale of a knight called 'The Trials of Sir Morgan.' I should visit the locations and relive the battles mentioned in the book, they seem to exist in the Thundering Steppes.

Stage 1

I should find ancient crop fields in Thundering Steppes and do battle with scarecrows just like in the book.

Start:	Relive the scarecrow battle.
Complete:	I killed the scarecrows like in the book.

I did battle with animated scarecrows within the Thundering Steppes, just as Sir Morgan did.

Stage 2

I need to recreate the battle with the sirens at the submerged pyramid within Thundering Steppes.

Start:	Relive the siren battle.
Complete:	I killed the sirens like in the book.

I recreated the battle with the sirens at the submerged pyramid in Thundering Steppes.

Stage 3

I need to recreate the battle with the Bloodsaber knights that took place at a bridge spanning the now dry Plaincutter River in Thundering Steppes.

Start:	Battle the revenant scouts.
Complete:	I killed the revenant scouts.

Start:	Battle the revenant soldiers.
Complete:	I killed the revenant soldiers.

Start:	Battle the revenant commander.
Complete:	I killed the revenant commander.

I recreated the battle with the Bloodsaber knights in the Dead River Basin in Thundering Steppes.

Stage 4

I need to recreate the battle with the giants near a bridge spanning a dead end river in Thundering Steppes.

Start:	Battle the fallen giants.
Complete:	I killed the undead fallen giants.

I recreated the battle with the giants in the Valley of the Ancients in Thundering Steppes.

Stage 5

I need to recreate the battle with the familiars amidst the ruins of the Keep of Immortality in Thundering Steppes.

Start:	Battle the unbound familiars.
Complete:	I killed the unbound familiars.

I recreated the battle with the unbound familiars in the ruins of the Keep of Immortality in Thundering Steppes.

Stage 6

I need to visit the area of Thundering Steppes that looks like a circle of titanic thorns or fangs. I should search the center of this circle.

Start:	Examine the center of the circle of thorns.
Complete:	I discovered the Amulet of Ullkorruuk and encountered Squire Wimbley's evil spirit.

I discovered an Amulet of Ullkorruuk at the basin of the circle of thorns.

Stage 7

I need to revisit Rikantus at Evernight Cemetery in Antonica. His promise of fortune did not transpire.

Start:	Speak to Rikantus in Evernight Cemetery.
Complete:	I spoke to Rikantus in Evernight Cemetery.

I spoke to Rikantus and gave him the Amulet of Ulkkorruuk in exchange for another promise of fortune.

Visiting the location of the story 'The Trials of Sir Morgan' has led me to do battle and eventually earned me a useless amulet. Rikantus said it was the 'Amulet of Ullkorruuk' and that it belonged to his ancestors.
