I slowed this mob with Shiftless Deeds and did not receive any sort of "partially effective" message. It seemed MUCH slower (was tanking it at level 49), so I'm pretty sure this thing is fully slowable.

Had my 56 cleric slowly soloing down near the construct area when I ran into this bad boy. Needless to say he resisted all my spells, max hit me for 199, summoned and had me oom in no time. So, I loaded up my 69 mage and smoked his green butt, just having read the quest.

Dropped the key and ear. No quest page. Bah lol.

Just a bit of info :
Doable at 58 (1460AC 5460HP self buffed, 298aa's), but much harder fight than destroyed constructs.
Grabbed 5% of an aa (going 100% aa xp) with LOTD, same amount than the destroyed constructs (4-5%).
Dropped the sacred key every time i killed him (3 times so far) and earring.
Summons, so if you get an add, root the add!
Hits me for 200's max, 120-150 for the most, fast, seems to hit even faster when going under 20% health...
I got good dps for a paly, and this guy as a lot of hp (around 15-20K I would say).
Stuns from my blade of disruption got resisted very often.
Would suck around 50% of my mana (using Hot and fast 400 heal), had to use Lay Hand once in 3 fights, finishing at 20% health every time.
Destroyed constructs i kill fairly easy, one or two Hot max, never going under 80% HP.
No construct seems to run on low health, elementals do.

The Duke in Vekhsar would offer me a similar fight considering difficulty, more hp + hits harder but UNDEAD and rootable!

I am a 68 druid and was camping right near his spawn powerleveling my 42 chanter and he dropped the key. The fight was very easy considering I never hit the thing with any spells other than snare with the druid (was powerleveling so just sent in the chanter and hit it once and let the thing beat itself to death on the druids DS's). It does hit very fast and hits in the 160's to 200 at times. Had about 40m left when it died just healing. It also is VERY magic resistant (even with the chanter tashing it) and I had a hard time landing ANY spells on it.

It was very good exp for a solo kill for a 42 chanter (about 9% exp). It dropped the key and from what I see.. is the easiest to kill of the 3 key droppers in the zone. It dropped both the mask and an earring about as equally. It also dropped a page everytime, got all 3 pages in about 10 kills.

The spawn time also is very fast on him, so you can clear out 5-6 mobs around the area and he will spawn again if your farming keys for everyone in your party.

Our group: 46 wizzie (me), 50 chanter, 53 chanter, 54 necro, 63 shadow knight. The SK tanked this sucker both times we killed it. Both times, when the fight ended, the SK was down to about 5% health. He said it was hitting him very hard, & thought it was definitely an under-con. Yea, we would have been better off with a cleric, but it takes an act of Congress to find an evil cleric of that level on Sullon Zek ... :(

None of the others mentioned what it conned to them, I only know it was red to me. Both times, it dropped the earring, mercury, & the sacred key.

Both times, the old construct spawned at the same location -- the "center" door of the destroyed construct room. Don't know how else to describe it, since I'm not very familiar with the zone.

I never tried a Conflag on it, but Enticement seemed to last just fine, altho it didn't seem to do a lot.

He will either spawn at the "constructs" camp (the first one past the pool with the new quest mob), or as a wanderer in the city just past the "gargoyle" camp (where bejeweled elemental used to spawn).

I can confirm that an old construct can spawn at any of the "a destroyed construct" spawn points. I have seen 4 of them so far and each one has spawned in a different location. The loot has been as noted:

a sacred key;
a Shiny Gold Earring;
a Shiny Silver Mask; and
various pages of the Outcast Journal.

It seems they always drop the key and either the earring or the mask. Two of the four had a page of the Outcast Journal.

First, this mob isn't underconned -- for a "named" mob. He has a bit more HP than the others around him, and has the usual "named" mob resists (ie, no charm, mezz, slow, etc). Other than that, a normal mob that's at the appropriate level for this area.

When entering Old Paineel, go thru the castle with the Elementals. You'll go down a rampway, then down a washed-out area with a pool, then come to a building with several Constructs.

This mob has two apparent spawn spots. He's either wandering up by the pool, then back down to the building, or he's inside the building at the large room inside, with 2 other Constructs.

WRONG. this mob is a major undercon. A 62 necro and I ended the fight with no mana, 12% health and a pet that was about 5%. This guy was resisting my lifetaps!!!. He resisted 2 lifetaps, partially resisted one, and 2 stuck. I blew through 2 of the destroyed constructs (supposedly 1 level higher than this one) with no problem at all (full health and mana from liching)and at one point took out 3 of the ruined constructs at once. I didn't cast any other type of spells besides magic so I don't know what his resist are to other spells. ( I was too busy trying to keep my red bar from turning black). But at least his magic resist is HUGE.

yeah this guy in a mean *******, I only had the 63 rogue pet, but if it wasnt for enrage my pet woulda died when he started going crazy at lower hps, I was healing pet with 1k pet heal. he is alittle annoying because where i found him was in the middle of that city and there was potential for adds so had to fight him in alittle area i had cleared. He doesnt have that many hps but problem was just keeping pet alive and getting time to dot or nuke, anyhow I wouldnt try this if your a necro and dont have the level 64 1k pet heal, as for other pet classes It'd be nasty just getting to him solo without FD, but you'd probably fair better with stouter pets and better heals.
under con
# Aug 31 2003 at 12:06 PM Rating: Decent
I dunno about this mob being under conned, don't really know that well cuz it conned red to my 45th lvl necro. All I know is that it summons and can quad hit for just under 200hp each hit. The mask and earring it carries are pretty decent though.
drops
# Aug 31 2003 at 7:52 AM Rating: Decent
drops "a sacred key" which opens a locked door down the stairs from where he spawned - door to a small throne-looking room. (doors open sporatically on their own every minute or so, but convenient to have the key)

seems to be a random spawn, spawns in place of a Destroyed Construct in the small tower with windows.

dropped a Shiny Gold Earring
dropped a Shiny Silver Mask
dropped an Outcast Journal Page 23 (lore, nodrop)

Summons, Not Slowable

Correction, he IS slowable (partially). I used my shaman (61) and cloud of Grumman which is DISEASE based. My 61 Shaman and 55 Monk took him down and shaman had 40% mana left at the end.
This guy is way under con'd

Was double hitting our 51st lvl warrior for double 199's.
