Straight fight: 80war, 79enc, 79warMerc, 80clrMerc - MercWar on assist, tash/slow/cripple on Alpha Feran, 80war on Defenders with Enc-Pet, meanwhile mezzing all Defenders, tash/slow/cripple the defenders and down them by 80war + Enc-Pet one by one while 79warMerc keeps Alpha Meran busy. The 80clrMerc did healing job on "balanced" excellent. After finishing all Defenders (also with DoT-Support from Enc) complete Firepower to Alpha Meran. Finished him straight in time, as the 80clrMerc wasted his last mana.
Perhaps a method for somebody out there who want to try him. Safe Hunting.
79 ranger 970 aa's with a teir 4 cleric merc. killed 3 of the adds last one was down to 30% and Alpha was down to 40%. Merc had argo on adds most the time which drained its mana and got it killed.
Ok here is something i learned 3 boxing him.....First u cant FD split them apart.....Mez works on the Guardian guys....slow does land but tends to resist a few times.....Alpha hits for 1200 max on a 4300 AC SK ...pups hit for 100 to 300....and if u kill Alpha before the pups he respawns in place of one of the remaining pups, soo kill the pups..kill the Alpha fight took alot longer than it should have as i killed Alpha first then he respawned as in place of a pup and i still had to kill 3 of those.
Here is the strat.. with information that will HELP. Did this with 24 man raid.
First off this is how you get your raid safetly to this guy.
Have everyone zone in from the DS zone side and follow the path invis taking the FIRST right turn. Stopping at the entrance to a cubby. Clear the two guards and the roamer here and lead your raid nw towards the valley ahead. Pull as you clear down the vally... This could be skipped but there is at least 1-2 see invis mobs... and it's just easier to clear killing the 5-10 quick mobs till you reach Alpha.
The Alpha feran's Feran guards will let you get to about 300-350 range before aggroing. So don't let anyone get to close.. it's not neccesary alpha is not perma rooted.
Set up your healers on one side of the valley with your chanters on the same side.
Have everyone else on the otherside of the valley (still in the gully base of the valley).
Actual tactic to kill is simple... Have 1 tank keeping Alpha Feran busy while you kill of his guards one by one. Be sure to have an assist list just incase your MA, SA drop.
Keeping clerics and chanters on the same side is a really easy way to insure they dont get wiped by a rampaging guard mob. Just have them prepared to aoe stun/mezz and remez immediately.
There are only 4 guards and alpha. So you will be killing 1 guard, and Alpha leaving three mobs to be mezzed on the pull and this is the only hard part.
Make sure your raid is all assisting on the same guard. Once you drop all four guards, burn down alpha and NP.
MT reported to me that Alpha hit him as hard as 3k. We were able to keep him up with 2 level 70 clerics without much of a problem, Big quick heals and Hot's did the job with Pan o Vie.
Here is some good news... lets say you kill 2 guards then wipe... dont fret.. if you cleared that path as you came in you should be able to rez quickly and re engage...
Our first shot at him we dropped 3 guards, then things went a little south, we quickly regrouped but did full raid buffs and medded to full before re-engaging this mob and when we did... we just picked up where we left off. One guard and Alpha and we dropped him so fast his corpse read "Delta Feran"
Just killed him last night, had 5 solid groups. One main tank on AF then four OT's on his guards. After the guards are killed AF drops in less than a min. Not the hardest fight. Dropped 2 runes and the Face of Envy.
His guards are mezzable, either with 67 (some can be controlled by bliss) enc mez or bard mez, you must keep AF engaged with one warrior on heal chain while SA calls targets, have mezzers pre-target with SoS rogue helps. After all guards down then have raid move to help MA with AF, be careful of the murkglider spawn, also mezzable and can land mana drain on murky.
AF is best tanked by a pally who has the new level 66 and 68 stuns. Unlike most raid encounters, AF is fully stunnable so a paladin can better mitigate incoming damage from him. We discovered this on the TP server last night after a near wipe.
drops a mask with nice stats and +2 regen +2 mana regen called the mask of envy or something like that just won it almost the same as the battleworn helm. but a plate caster item
Tried this guy tonight with 20 mostly non-ep members. Bard puller WAS able to pacify the guards and Alpha Feran, but when attempting to pull they would all come.
The puller was finally able to get a single guard perfectly with assistance from an FD puller, but as soon as it reached camp the other 3 guards and Alpha aggroed the raid from their spawn points and smoked us. So apparently all 5 mobs share the same aggro list (hard linked) and you'll have to fight them all at once.
Guards were tripling for 1300 or so, Alpha max hit was over 3k.
We did this mob tonight. You must kill his guards before you kill him otherwise he will respawn. Bard lull won't work on his guards. We ended up bringing the whole mess to the raid. His guards are not snarable, though I didn't try to root them, however they can be mez'd. We had a raid force of about 30 and we are new to the EPs so he isn't a terribly tough fight.
He dropped some chain wearer arms which I will try to get a screenshot of and post here. He also dropped 2 69 level runes for us.
