Altar of Malice Expansion Goodies

SOE reveals pricing and goodies that will be included with the EverQuest II xpack.

SOE has announced the pricing and goodies included in the Altar of Malice expansion. An important point of interest: unlike previous expansions, this one cannot be pre-ordered. That means that the Collector's Edition will not have a discounted price at any point. As mentioned at SOE Live, Altar of Malice will include the Tears of Veeshan expansion, while Chains of Eternity will become free (Age of Discovery will remain as separate items in the Marketplace).

Full details below!

Standard Edition: $39.99 and only includes one bonus item, an "Altar of Malice on Canvas" house item painting

Collector's Edition: $89.99 and includes (in addition to the Standard Edition item) six additional bonus goodies.

Elite Mercenary: Battle-Mystic (Warrior-Shaman)

Let Kluuron V’Lorn, the battle-mystic mercenary, do your bidding in the Shattered Seas. Gain access to this exiled Cultist of Primordial Malice who will fight alongside you for coin. Each character on your account will be able to hire this fearsome mercenary.

Yes, it's really going to be an elite merc, we checked.

"The Elite Merc is very powerful and intended to survive Heroic content." -Afista

Striped Savage Pterodon Mount

Let the strong wings of this prehistoric pteradon carry you into battle. Fly across the seas on this tamed, winged beast. Each level 85 character on your account will be eligible to use this flying mount. This mount can be placed as a house object too!

Stats have now been added to this mount, starting at level 95!

Mage Tower Mirage

Bring a piece of the Isle of Refuge into your own home with the Mage Tower Mirage. This unique magic house object provides teleportation to the Isle of Refuge in the Altar of Malice expansion. You can change the appearance of this tower from the original to the destroyed version by interacting with the object when it’s placed in your home. Each character on your account will be able to claim and use this item.

Note: This is a house item, not a house.

Prehistoric House Pet

Say hello to your new little friend, the tyrannodon! This prehistoric house pet might need a bit of time to adjust to life in the cities. We tried to train it, but… well, it’s yours now! Each character on your account will be able to claim this house pet.

Three Gems of Armor Advancement

Each magically forged gem upgrades one Level 100 armor item up one tier which improves the item attributes. This item can be applied to any level 100 Advanced Solo, Heroic, or Tier 1 Raid armor. (Note: two gems can’t be used on the same item.)

Eighty Days of Spell Research

Get two 40-day spell research potions. For example, one potion can be applied to a Level 100 Master spell to increase it towards Grandmaster. Each potion is applied only once. Unused research time does not carry over, so use it wisely!

As mentioned earlier, this expansion cannot be pre-ordered. All Access members can purchase the Standard Edition for $39.99 or the Collector's Edition for $89.99 on or after November 11, 2014. The 10% member discount will apply to those prices. F2P members can purchase the expansion at its base cost on or after November 25, 2014.

"There is no pre-order timeframe this year. All-Access Members will be able to purchase and play AoM on November 11, 2014. Free-to-Play members will be able to purchase and play AoM on November 25, 2014."

SOE Live attendees will receive discount pricing for the CE: $50 to upgrade, and All Access members will receive a 10% discount off of that as well.

Post your feedback over on the official forum!

My husband and I have been playing since EQ1 was in beta .... we have two accts each and have bought all the previous CE expansions for our accts ... we have been loyal and steadfast in paying for our games even when we haven't been able to play for periods of time because of life, medical issues etc ... I am sad to say that after my husband having a mini stroke earlier this year and other things coming up with pets etc ... Sony may have pushed me to my breaking point this time ... my finances are going to doctors, hospitals etc ... as much as I want it ... I just don't think I can swing it and it makes me very sad they've put their loyal members against this line in the sand .... shame on you SOE !!!

Due to recent forum posts about expansion pricing and new race pricing: (on eq2 forums and FB)
Perhaps what needs to happen is eq2 players band together and pick a day to have a 24 hour LOG IN BOYCOTT in protest of the pricing of the new expansion, and race.( I suggest this coming weekend November 8th PRIOR to the new expansions release )
there are MANY eq2 players disgruntled for various different reasons. Instead lets just pick a day to NOT login to eq2 to show our resolve that this needs to be reconsidered or changed . and send a clear and unified message
I would just ASK that THOSE WHO WISH TO PARTICIPATE JUST NOT LOG IN ON EQ2 THE 8TH of NOVEMBER. I will post this on the FB pages I frequent as well as discuss this in my in game voice chat channel eq2.freeport.kordytorium feel free to drop in and discuss it my IGN it is kordelane

I have bought every single collectors' expansion since 2005. Not this time. I have too accounts, so $180 is just too much.
I will go for the $40

I did not buy TOV and will buy just the common flunky level. However, I pay how much a year and then have to buy this upgrade at $40, okay $36 for member?

Let's just say that I am not happy about the cost I pay on the game.

I do wish I could upgrade now and get access to TOV asap.
Glad I left

This absolute greed is why I have given up on this game. $90 for CE? Are you insane? Even $40 for the standard is way too much. 5 levels? Nope. pass, thanks
