SOE Publishes ProSiebenSat.1 Games Group FAQ

Player questions about European disribution are answered.

UPDATE, Feb 27: Linda "Brasse" Carlson, Director of SOE Global Community Relations, expanded on Smed's post on the official forums:

SOE and ProSieben worked throughout the weekend to develop a plan that will allow our players to access and play on any server regardless of where they are in the world. Our community is our top priority and rest assured, all of your concerns have been heard. We continue to work together with ProSieben and appreciate your patience as we work around the clock to work out critical technical details. We will share more information as soon as possible.

UPDATE, Feb 27:  This just in over Twitter from John Smedley, CEO of SOE:  "We've come up with a plan to allow ALL players to play on any servers they want. More details to follow." Stay tuned for details when they are available!

When Sony Online Entertainment announced their partnership with ProSiebenSat.1 to distribute SOE games in Europe the SOE gaming communities exploded with questions and concerns. Today SOE released a FAQ which answers those questions.  Highlights include the segregation of Euroean and American servers, and the exclusion of the original EverQuest from the deal.

We highly recommend you read the ProSiebenSat.1 Games Group FAQ on the Station.com or your favorite SOE game forum.

I feel for anyone who plays the games mentioned. The manner in which the transition is done is terrible to say the least. From the info given in the link, everything is left up to the customer to do.

Picture this :Apply to a new company ( staffed with people with no experience re the games mentioned)to create and transfer from SOE, a new account and hope that the developers or TSR's from this alien company can address any irregularities re missing characters, items etc..etc.

Thank God I only play one SOE game EQ1. Because if that is what I'd have to go through I might actually consider retiring...

Stupid move. I'm to upset to even write a coherent nasty response to SOE regarding this move.

Things I sometimes play...

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"I want to be a unicorn!"
"Awww, why's that?"........
"So I can stab people with my face."
Does not effect EQ 1

Miscellaneous Questions

Why will this partnership not affect EverQuest 1?

The original EverQuest was not included as part of the agreement between SOE and ProSiebenSat.1 Games.
PSS1 - NOT a good move methinks

SOE - NGE, the company that never learns....
# Feb 24 2012 at 1:17 PM Rating: Decent
The nastiest move I've seen for a MMO ever, although I wasn't around for SWG's NGE.

Its similar though, Prosebien are a full on RMT company that embrace pay to win, and SOE have given them permission to run the cash shop with their own items...

Looks like too many of my friends are leaving to even leave me a choice in the matter here, going to miss EQ2 if so.
