Najena to Unrest Merge Starts Tonight

The two servers will be offline for an estimated 24 hours.

The Najena to Unrest server merge will begin at 12am PST tonight and is estimated to have 24 hours of downtime. The issues discovered with the merge process during the server merge last week are now believed to be resolved. Players on servers not affected by this merge can expect chat, friends list and in-game mail outages interruptions for its duration:

The Najena and Unrest servers will be merging on Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Both servers will be offline for an estimated 24 hours, beginning at 12:00 am on Tuesday, December 14. The merged Unrest server is scheduled to come back online around 12:00 am on Wednesday, December 15.

The following services will be affected for all EQII servers during this downtime and may experience interruptions:

  • Cross-server chat
  • Chat channels
  • In-game mail
  • Friends Lists

We apologize for any inconvenience and will resume all affected services when the merge is complete.

We will be on the lookout for updates as the merge progresses and will keep this article and our forum thread up-to-date. SOE also started a merge thread on their official forums. For more general information on the merges see our Server Mergers 2010 guide.

Refugees from the server merge are welcome to join us in the #EQ2 channel on ZAM's IRC chat!

PROGRESS UPDATES

At 2am PST, Greg "Rothgar" Spence announced:

"Two hours down, everything is on schedule and no issues."

At 9:15am PST, Rothgar updated us again:

"The merge process is moving along and still on schedule.  Nothing interesting to report, so I guess that's good.

The chat system has been brought down as you've probably noticed.  This is because we are moving all universal chat data for Najena characters to the new server, Unrest.  As soon as this process is complete, we'll bring chat back up for everyone."

At 11:30am PST, we got another update:

"The merge is still progressing very well.  We are hoping to bring chat back online around 1pm PST.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for bringing Unrest up earlier than anticipated.

Server merge titles will be granted after the next hotfix.  We found an issue with the auto-consume code that was causing players to not receive the title.  If you're reading this and were part of the [Blackburrow] merge, and already have the title item in your inventory, this item will convert into the title after the next hotfix."

A 1:45pm PST update:

"The merge process is still going very well.  The chat merge is complete but we are running one more maintenance script while it is down.  This script should recover mail that was orphaned after the Everfrost/Blackburrow merge.  As soon as this is done, we will bring chat back up."

A 4pm PST update:

"Chat should be coming back up for all servers now.  The merge process is still on schedule and still hoping to have servers up in a few hours."

Another update rolled in around 6:45pm PST:

The merge process is complete and we are starting to QA the server.  It looks like we might have one potential problem to track down and are looking into it now.

Just saw this update around 7:15pm PST as well!

"We've identified the issue and fixing it now. We hope to bring the server back up for QA in the next half hour."
