You know what I'm talking about.

I don't know if the acting is getting worse or if enjoying the show has somehow become spoiled for me by watching some unfunny zombie flick parody on Netflix a few weeks prior. Just seemed really forced for much of the episode. In fact, it all felt kind of forced really. There just happens to be a quarry filled with zombies I mean come on. I remember enjoying the season 5 premiere quite a lot so the bar was set a bit high I guess. The black and white time jumping was also kind of annoying.

The story skipping was a bit annoying, and making it black and white was about as effective as throwing in a laugh track. I could buy the gaggle of zombies in a quarry, but found the whole the only real dissenter to Rick's plan being the one that died the low point.

I'm just waiting for Negan and Lucille at this point.

Thinking with his ***** and misses a key piece of information she was trying to tell him.

Of course, she _could_ be talking about how she and Carl were able to sneak in/out. But I don't think she was. Seems she was sneaking out long before Carl got there, and for some reason.

That was a long 15 minutes.

Carol is such a badass ninja. Guess she won't be able to pretend to be a demure housewife any longer.

Unrelated: AMC, how do you have a Halloween marathon and not show Halloween 3?! Smiley: mad

After watching this latest episode and all currently existing episodes of Fear the Walking Dead I began to really think about the situation the world of the Walking Dead universe is in. I haven't gotten very far into the comics yet but I have a feeling if there are any other subtle clues about what's going on it will be within them. In my best Bill Nye voice-- Consider the following:

* The entire world was "infected" with this mysterious pathogen all at once, perhaps even the exact same moment. It did not spread through any normal means. Not even an airborne virus could work that fast and effect every living person on Earth, no exceptions, that quickly.

* Humans are the only animals that are reanimated upon death. Only humans. No birds, no dogs, no cats horses or bears. It would be really ******* awesome to see an undead blue whale or something tearing apart a boat filled with survivors but no, only humans come back.

* The fact that the walkers are able to exist at all is mind boggling. It's like magic. They are dead. They don't even need their lungs or heart or tendons or anything at all to be able to get up and move around indefinitely without ever wearing down or getting tired in the slightest.

Suddenly I think back to a movie I saw once called Prometheus, which is sort of a prequel to the Alien franchise of films. In the movie, a group of future archaeologists find a relic that points them a particular star system from which the alien race that engineered humanity and seeded them on Earth were last camped out at. It wasn't their home planet. Instead, it was a staging point for a biological weapon of biblical proportions that was to be used to erase the mistake that was humanity. It simply never made it to Earth because they lost control over it and it killed them instead.

Now, originally I thought it was all Rick's comatose dreaming. A lot of other people seem to have thought that as well, but that has already been disproven and debunked a thousand times over by the series creator. He really doesn't want people to believe that because it simply is not true.

I have a feeling that after surviving against zombies and other surviving humans begins to get a bit too tired out, perhaps Rick and his people will begin to come across some really profound and whacked out things. I feel that the pathogen that is causing humans to reanimate has been within the "dark matter" of our DNA all along lying in wait, and has somehow become activated. It's like a fail safe switch for when things go horribly wrong, or a self-destruct mechanism. I'll leave it at that.

Future zombie problem solved, just tie their shoe laces together when you bury them. And who gets buried these days anyways? Assuming it's not a cliche epidemic that effects the whole world.

Also, I can't recall if this was mentioned before; but who keeps cutting the grass!?

If you're reading to find out the why and how of the zombie apocalypse, you're going to be highly disappointed. It's not really a question that's explored. In fact, the show probably spends more time on it than the books.

I don't expect it to flat out tell me anything. I imagine Robert Kirkman and those closely involved in the creation of the TV series know exactly how everything will end, and also know how it all really began. This means there are a lot of "rules" on what they can and can't do in order for both of those things to make sense when they do come eventually come to light. The aforementioned "no animals are undead but humans" is a good example of this.

I've also noticed that they're all extremely good at dodging this kind of topic on Talking Dead. I'm just sayin' though-- Now that the comatose dreaming idea is out of the picture, I get the feeling future chapters of the comic and eventually the TV show will begin to exhibit a lot of classic H.P. Lovecraftian tropes. The only other option I can foresee at this point is just to leave it all a mystery.

F'kin' ineptitude kills.

I bet Glenn is okay for now. Rick's hand is probably (finally) gone, though.

Me and my wife were holding our breath watching that thing where they review everyone who died waiting for it say Glenn's name and it never came up and I just couldn't believe it. I knew he was going to die the moment I saw his pocket watch come out and when he called Rick "dumbass" in homage to the first episode. It was all way too dramatic for him to have not died. It's bad enough all that happened-- then Talking Dead went and made it so much worse. I've seen them survive by hiding under dead bodies before so it now seems very possible that he is in fact alive, especially given Nicholas can't turn and move off of him given he shot himself in the head. I honestly don't know what to think. It feels a bit unfair that they're doing this.

Well, that's kind of the point they were driving at. The apocalypse isn't fair. And with the fan reaction, they succeeded.
Interviews wrote:
"The Walking Dead" executive producers Scott M.Gimple and David Alpert discussed the possible death of a fan-favorite character, Rick's hand and more following the shocking conclusion to this past Sunday's episode, "Thank You."

Speaking with Variety, Alpert revealed that, even if Glenn (Steven Yeun) does survive, he'll never be the same after that moment. "I feel like, regardless of what happened to Glenn, he paid a tremendous price for having been human to Nicholas, and that, to me, from an emotional point-of-view -- whether or not Glenn is alive or dead or something else -- the Glenn that we knew, the one that believed in the better side of humanity, I think is dead."

Gimple was mum on the subject with TV Line but offered a few hints about Glenn's fate nonetheless, saying, "It was shot the way it was shot and it was edited the way it was edited and that is always deliberate. I spend a lot of time on these cuts, so take that as you will."
That gives credence to the theory that it was Nicholas being torn up instead of Glenn.
continued wrote:
While he couldn't commit to an answer on Glenn, Gimple did have a definitive answer about the damage done to Rick's hand: "I’m going to go out on a limb here and say something definitive: Rick is OK regarding that cut. His hand will survive. There will be a bandage. There will be some ointment involved. But he’s going to walk away from it."
Ah damnit. Smiley: mad

Glenn's name was missing in the opening credits. Smiley: um

Good to see Morgan's ninja training, completely with unlikely sensei. Though I think it was a waste of a 90 minute episode. It was still good. Nice and touching. Human drama. To be honest, when I read the episode description "A new face appears," I kind of expected Jesus.

SPOILERS:

There's picture of Glenn filming with Jesus, who hasn't been introduced yet, so much like John Snow he's probably not dead.

Garret Dillahunt, who I only really know as the Dad on Raising Hope but who I am told played very good bad guys in Deadwood & Justified, may have been cast as Nagen according to his twitter.

edit -

I've been meaning to say, and I'm glad it didn't come up this week because I find it pretty weak when things happen and people say they predicted it'd happen afterwards without any actual prediction. So I'm betting Glenn is saved by Jesus. I'm saying that was Nicholas guts being torn up. I just want that on record. I also agree with Christopher Yost in that an all comedy episode of Walking Dead would be an instant hit. Also a musical episode.

Nothing represents "don't get what's going on" than Deanna going ape on that Wolf, just stabbing at it's chest all berserker like.

All I could think about when that happened was why that walker just stood there (and later lied down) and took it. Any other walker would have killed, or at least bitten her.

Looks like the role has been given to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, at least according to The Hollywood Reporter. Unnamed sources claim he'll be showing up during the midseason finale, so three more episodes?

How did Tina survive all this time if she just walks up to lurkers like that and basically trips into their mouths? Abraham screaming at RPG Zombie was amusing, but all I could think was why he didn't just stab it in the face?

I assume the group they were dealing with were either the Saviors or a Saviors affiliate, and that was Glenn on the radio at the end asking for help.

Oh, and Enter the Badlands was exactly what I thought it would be.

I wonder all the time how some of these people have survived for so long. It's like a fresh batch of people materialize into the world every once in a while and have to learn to adapt or die over and over.

Heavy spoiler, according to the official Walking Dead twitter account the guy who stole Daryl's crossbow is Dwight, one of Negan's men, minus the facial scarring. He's also the guy that usually carries a crossbow in the book, which I guess means he's keeping it and the iron to the face is coming soon.
