Some rather interesting news from the future Disney Streaming Service. Apparently they'll be making some big budget mini-series based around the characters from the MCU from the movie studios themselves with Kevin Feige in charge. So far word is Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen will be the first to bring their Loki and Scarlet Witch to the big-small screen. Kind of like an eight episode version of those old Marvel One Shots.

Watched the Captain Marvel trailer and... eh. I'm sure I'll see it because it's MCU and I'll give it even odds of being decent but if that trailer didn't have the MCU stamp on it and was just "Space Girl" then I'd have no interest in watching it based on what they showed so far.

What happens when you remove Nickelodeon from the "Last Airbender" equation? We will get to find out.

I'm happy. I don't like how Nickelodeon treated Korra (actually removing new episodes from airing on TV, even when it was airing on their third tier channels, in favor of Spongebob reruns). Sending it to Online-only viewing. And am glad to see the creators are involved in the Netflix live action, without M Night or Nick...

Food Network is bringing back "Good Eats". On their Cooking Channel.

I'm sure she'll have aunts and classmates we can objectify too.

Edit: I never watched Mad Men so I looked on IMDB and then searched "<Actress Name> Mad Men" and first suggestion added "nightie". Apparently other people were more ready than you, and now I'm on an FBI list somewhere.

Food Network has a Cooking Channel? That'd be like Comedy Central having a Stand-Up Channel ... Actually, now I kind of want that.

Daredevil: Season 3, October 19th. Let the devil out. Netflix really don't pull punches.

Some names being thrown out for Margot Robbie's Birds of Prey seem to be Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Justina Machado for Huntress, Black Canary, and Renee Montoya.

Apparently, Mbatha-Raw and Jurnee Smollett-Bell have read for Black Canary, while Machado and Roberta Colindrez tested for Renee Montoya. In the running for Huntress are Margaret Qualley, Winstead , Cristin Milioti, and Sofia Boutella. The reports also seem to confirm that Cassie Cain will be on the team, with Black Mask as the main villain.

Thor and a Valkyrie on the set of the next Men in Black movie.

Camera test of Phoenix in Joker. Kind of looks like the dude from Adam West's Batman series slash movie, who I liked a lot. Doubt this'll be the final product, but frankly I like it here. I liked his performance, but I was never a fan of Ledger's Hobo Joker look.

Chloe Zhao is being rumored to direct Marvel's The Eternals, which will probably be the next Inhumans.

Some new pictures from Todd Phillips' instagram for his Joker movie. I particularly like the generic party clown look, if only because of all the people saying he looks like one of the Insane Clown Posse juggalos. Yeah, I don't see it either.

Birds of Prey has a February 7, 2020 release day. A week before the next James Bond movie.

Tommy Wiseau as the Joker doing a scene from Nolan's Dark Knight. A random bit of random.

The Gifted and Lethal Weapon apparently returned last night and I almost missed them. I kind of thought they'd prolong Polaris' pregnancy, but they got that little mutie out pretty quick. Speaking of mutants, did they replace the brother with a new actor or did puberty beat the living crap out of him?

It was hard to sympathize with Murtaugh when I knew it was Wayans' fault Crawford was written out of the show in the first place. I didn't mind Seann's performance, but whoever used the spray paint tool from MSPaint on his face needs to be replaced.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Black Canary opposite Margot Robbie for Birds of Prey.

Doctor Who's season 11 premiere is moved up to Sunday, October 7, at 1:45 p.m. ET. So if you DVR, make sure to set it properly. Not sure if it's just the premiere episode or for all the episodes afterwards.

Wilson Fisk's White Suit: Season 3

X-Men: Dark Phoenix trailer is supposedly releasing tonight. Already leaked yesterday so we'll see how it compares. It wasn't really much to talk about with the leaked Russian version.

Pretty sure it's the same actor. Face looks the same. He just dyed his hair white and cut it short. And developed a Preggo-Fetish. I guess that's a better fetish than incest. Though he did kind of Mallfoy thru his puberty. Never cared for his character. I think I'm going to be disappointed as he and his sister will be the focus of this show, and I dislike a lot about their characters. I can't really find anything positive to say about that whole family of characters, father, mother, or kids.

I was kind of bored by the episode. But not sure if it was because I was trying to catch up on Fear the Walking Dead before catching this premiere, and that one definitely has drained all my TV watching enthusiasm.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix: Looks better than X3? Looks pretty standard X-movie. Magneto was out, but now he's in and messing things up. Xavier is regretting his decisions. Quicksilver sees something. But on the plus side, no "I'M JUGGERNAUT BITCH!" and Scott seems to survive longer in the trailer than he did in X3.

Speaking of Simon Kinberg, according to him the Gambit movie is not only still on but it's going to be a romantic comedy.
Simon Kinberg wrote:
When you look at Gambit, he’s a hustler and a womanizer and we just felt like there was an attitude, a swagger to him, that lent itself to romantic comedy. You know, when I say romantic comedy, I use that term loosely, in the same term that I use the term western for Logan loosely.

It’s not like they’re gunslingers at high noon in Logan. It’s just a vibe. And I would say the vibe of Gambit has a romantic or sex comedy vibe to it. While it is also still very much a superhero movie with villains and heroes, as all these movies are.

Tom Hardy says all the scenes he enjoyed filming and liked (about thirty minutes worth) have been cut from Venom. Great way to promote a movie.

I want to watch it just to have something to watch in the theaters. Even though I think his CG Venom self is kind of silly looking.

I read over the weekend that Ryan Reynolds announced a surprise Deadpool 3 Christmas release. But I did not actually click any of the headlines or investigate it further to find out if it was true, or just some gossip/rumor headlines floating around.

It's a PG13 rerelease of Deadpool 2, using a picture of Fred Savage in bed like on The Princess Bride, with Wade in Peter Falk's place. X-Men: Dark Phoenix was also moved to June. It just sounds like Fox is trying to milk as much money as possible before the ink dries on the Disney acquisition.

Who... is asking for this?

Gotta have something to put on those BluRay releases so people buy them.

Finally getting around to watching Iron Fist. Two episodes in and the choreography is better.

In Netflix news... Dragon Prince was enjoyable. Only 9 episodes though (so far). A writer from Avatar:TLA is behind it. And it shows, in a good way. Main character is voiced by Sokka. And is pretty much the same character.

And in adult themed immature animation news... Big Mouth is coming back soon. And South Park is back. First episode was making fun of peoples' responses to school shootings.

Fear the Walking Dead got better after a very slow first half and middle. But still drags. And I still enjoy Better Call Saul.

Edit:
Apparently Netflix is making a "Choose your own adventure" styled interactive show in the Black Mirror series. The few things I read had Telltale Games listed on the team. I don't know how well that will work, since didn't they just like... Die?

I'm sold.

Some leaked pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal (or probably his stunt double) suited up as Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. About 80% good. It's pretty comic accurate, but it needs the fishbowl helmet. Also a new stealth Spider-Suit, because toys ain't merchandising themselves why not? Looks like it was based off the Spider-Noir outfit, which is all types of awesome for me. I like that version.

Social media reaction to Venom is calling it the next Fant4stic or Catwoman. Which is what the assumption was when the movie was first announced so not exactly sure how reliable that would be. From what I've seen of it from the commercials, that "I've got a parasite" line Tom Hardy screeches out is painful to my ears.

According to Venom fans, Lady Gaga fans are botting negative tweet reviews of the movie. According to Lady Gaga fans, it's DCEU fans that are botting and blaming Lady Gaga Fans. According to DCEU fans, it's the MCU fans that are doing it. According to MCU fans, warm tea is the correct beverage to be drinking while these fanbases are all trying to destroy each other.

Venom was better than I expected, but seeing as how I was expecting a city destroying train wreck a simple dumpster fire is than expectations. Really, the most unfortunate thing about the whole movie happens during the end credit scene and it's really just one very unfortunate wig. Some of the jokes are good, but at the same time some are just really stupid ... which basically describes the entire script, really. I'd place it somewhere in the Ant-Man range if there was a scale. Good for an afternoon discount watch in the middle of the week if you've got a few bucks burning a whole in your pocket and nothing to really do. But that wig is really horrible. Like "good thing it's the last scene because it would bring the movie to a screeching halt" bad.

According to writer Damon Lindelof, HBO's Watchmen series is going to be "what the fans need, not what they want." I don't know about need, but I do know that fans rarely know what they want so it sounds like they cancel each other out.

Five minutes and change of Aquaman. Overall liked it but ... Jesus that dialogue! "Hey, what was the worst line in BvS? Let's make that a whole theme!"

Doctor Who premiered today. And I found out that Supergirl is going to be airing Sunday nights. So Sundays just got really crowded. The usual Fox animated shows, plus Walking Dead, Doctor Who, and Supergirl.

As for the whole "Doctor is a Woman now!" thing. The episode itself makes very little of it, and is pretty standard Doctor stuff overall. Thumbs up there. But the Pre/Post shows are eyerollingly hard to watch. Probably best to avoid these couch shows for any show really.

Not sure why Supergirl is Sunday night now.

Z Nation came back last week. And it's better than Fear/Walking Dead... Now they have "Talkers". Zombies that don't know they are zombies.

And since everyone knows that this season is Rick Grimes' last season, I am expecting every other episode to end in a "Is he dead?" cliffhanger that will wear out its welcome after the first one, and won't actually be true until the finale.

Flash and Black Lightning are back this Tuesday. Between those two and The Gifted I've already found my DVR's suicide note and I'm trying to counsel it. I don't watch Fox's cartoons so at least there's that.

I've always liked Z Nation. That instead of trying to seem grounded and realistic it keeps getting more and more absurd. You can only do so much with realism, and Walking Dead blew past that like four seasons ago. Though the new intro was neat looking.

Jodie Whittaker has the standard bundle of random energy that most Doctors have, so that's good so far. Already like her more than Capaldi and Eccleston, though I don't think she's going to be as good as Baker or Tennant.

Oh, and during NYCC long rumored Bullseye was finally confirmed for next season's Daredevil, so something something Archer something only so hard. And DC's streaming service calendar. Also a promo for Harley Quinn's cartoon. Kind of funny, but I'm going to side with Ivy on this one.
Oh, and apparently on Titans the reason Dick is so angry with Batman is because he's a murderer. Because the edge wasn't edgy enough.

American Gods is finally coming back for another season. About time, I say.

On the subject of American Gods, while I haven't seen anything to outright confirm my suspicions, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the final season. There is about two thirds of the book left, so they could finish it up with a single season, and that scene where a spear was thrown looks suspiciously like something that happens at the end of the book. That, plus Gaiman has signed on with Amazon for further adaptions of his works, and Starz seems to have lost their contract completely.

Now, on the subject of Amazon adapting Gaiman's works, their first effort is the book he co-wrote with Terry Pratchett, called Good Omens. Here's a trailer:

The trailer doesn't do much for me, but the premise seems amusing enough that I picked up the book. It just showed up today, so I haven't started it yet, but I've enjoyed both Pratchett's and Gaiman's works in the past, so I have high hopes.

American Gods is next on my listening list. I finished the Night's Dawn Trilogy and am wrapping up this "A Second Chance at Eden" short story collection in the same universe. I have found it much easier to listen to a book while doing all my other work instead of actually holding a book and reading...

Another DC Universe film comes out tomorrow: Constantine, City of Demons

There was a Cartoon Network crossover mashup episode on today. It was about a villain that summons heroes from different dimensions so he could defeat them. Fun part was it had characters from all sorts of Cartoon Network shows, along with the old "Cartoon Cartoon" theme song. Not so old stuff like Regular Show, older stuff like Ed, Edd, and Eddy and shorts like Over the Garden Wall. I'm pretty sure I even saw the blonde princess from Sym-bionic Titan.
