Finally got around to seeing Incredibles 2 (Turns out the local theater has it in a weekly or bi-weekly rotation with Jurassic Park). Bob Odenkirk's animated character looked almost exactly like his real self. Was a bit disappointed that they didn't do anything with the whole "E and the Baby" bit, or the Racoon and the Baby. And I thought there would be a lot more Bob and the Kids, based on the trailers. I think I liked the first one better. Just felt like very little happened overall. It beat sitting in the hotel room all morning though.

Netflix wanted me to watch Paradise PD. So I watched a couple episodes. The show must be made by the same people that did the Daniel Tosh park ranger show. Cause it's pretty much the same thing, just with an inept police force instead of an inept park ranger service. Just about every character has an analogue, and some even look / sound the same.

Edit:
Sometimes I question these "clubs" theaters have. The branch down here is a Cinemark. And they keep giving me flyers to join their "Movie Club". 8.99$ per month, and you get one 2D ticket per month. But their ticket prices are 5.50$ ("early bird" pricing), 6.50$ (matinee pricing), and 8.50$ (general admission price). All cheaper than the Club cost. I guess you also get 20% off concessions, but that still puts them crazy high. But I'm single, no kids, so I don't have to worry about paying 300% markup on small amounts of candy and drinks.

Steve Guttenberg says Police Academy is coming back, which surprised me because I thought Guttenberg had died and that was the reason he wasn't in the last two. Considering David Graff (Tackleberry) has actually died I don't really feel like seeing one without him.

Last night Brie Larson and Entertainment Weekly exchanged tweets about "destroying the internet" sometime today. Some people think it's a trailer for Captain Marvel, but those people are crazy. It's most likely a couple of official promotional images and "first look" if anything. Didn't break the internet. But a first look is a first look. Looks good, nice seeing both the proto Green suit, along with the eventual Red & Blue. Lack of sash is a negative, lack of stupid helmet is a plus.

Embargo is up for Iron Fist: Season 2's half season, and they're somewhat lukewarm. The overall impression seems to be that at least they addressed the horrible choreography and Danny's personality from the first season, though the season still doesn't live up to the higher end of the rest of the Netflix shows.

Looks like the upcoming Predator movie is losing a scene or two, as it turns out the scenes involve a registered sex offender. The twist being apparently Shane Black not only knew about it all along, but was good friends with the guy and has regularly cast him in his movies.

Hollywood news is getting to be a fun distraction from the horrors of the actual news.

Was it that the actor was a sex offender, or that the scenes involved a character who was, and they just didn't want to offend the growing number of hollywood sex offenders? Either seem plausible at this point.

More serious note, I saw a trailer for the Predators movie and it almost played out like a comedy. I had no idea it was even a Predator movie trailer until the half way point. Thought to myself "Wait... is this the Predator movie" and then saw the name at the end.

I'm not sure if I expect anything good out of that movie. The last one I remember involved a planet humans were sent to, to be hunted. And I seem to recall a shady, lying, manipulative character played by Eric Foreman. Who was apparently tired of being threaten with boots of his ass.

B would be amusing, but it's A. Guy tried to lure a 14 year old over the internet. Right now I'm watching a couple of sites that crucified Gunn for accusations now try to walk back for Black who admitted it all and tried to downplay it.

Only the first Predator movie was any good. The sequel with ... I think it was Danny Glover, was weird, and the Alien vs Predator movies were just awful. I know there was a reboot (I think it was a reboot) but I never saw it because it just didn't look that appealing, and as much as I like Keegan-Michael Key I can't imagine seeing this new one either.

There was a rumor that Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds were going to make a live action Thundercats movie, but apparently that rumor has been put down to rest as they're saying it isn't true. Kind of a shame, considering if anyone can do hyper-masculinity bordering on homoerotic actionporn it's Michael Bay, and that basically describes Thundercats to a Ho.

I can't imagine why anyone would want a Thundercats movie. It was marginally entertaining when I was eight years old and stupid but it's not as though there's a mine of great content to it. "Here's a cat guy named, uh, Cougaro. Buy our action figures."

I'm sure it'd break $300mil opening weekend.

I can't pretend to be interested in Captain Marvel. Probably because I never read comics. Granted, they put out amusing flicks for GotG and Ant-Man and Doctor Strange was alright* so I'm not saying they shouldn't be doing or it it'll be bad but... eh. Hard to feel any hype or excitement.

Really, GotG and Ant-Man were good because they were fun and I was less into the relatively more straight-played Dr Strange. But then everyone raved about Black Panther (still haven't seen it) which was also played straight so... I dunno. I give them the benefit of the doubt that it won't be a waste of 120min but still not jazzed up

Isn't that pretty much Ryan Reynolds' shtick these days, too?

First time I heard of the rumor, and it was quashed in the same sentence. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed.

How I felt leaving Gamestop with my copy of Spider-Man.
How I felt downloading the various updates and DLC.

Made me almost forget Iron Fist S2 is today.

Teaser for Daredevil S3.

Downloading the update took far less time than it did to install the game, and I have an SSD in my PS4. Fun game, good graphics, a bit boring on the story so far. I'm a bit annoyed at how delicate Spidey is. In boss fights, you get hit two or three times and you're done.

I spend way more time just web-swinging around the city and taking pictures than I have playing the main story. Heard the main story was kind of short, but I've only just got up to Stan Lee's cameo (No, not a spoiler. It's part of the main story and it's Stan Lee so of course he was going to show up.) so at my pace the game should last a while.

My only real complaints are that Spidey is a bit delicate, and that music only really plays when you're swinging around so if you're just sneaking or checking the map it's silent, but the music isn't all that great when swinging so meh on that point either way. I'd put it up there with the Batman Arkham games.

According to THR, there's been some breakdown in negotiations with Henry Cavill for a cameo in Shazam, and not only that he might not even return as Superman at all in future movies. Rumor has it that the studio is shifting focus to Supergirl, which is such a great idea.

Oh well Mr Cavill, you can always jump the fence to the competition. Hyperion (Basically Superman, but angry and more world-dominatory) would certainly fit the bill and be a delicious FU to WB if the rumors are true.

DC can't seem to keep their actors. Not sure what's up there. Management, poor actor choice, unclear direction of the Universe. Or maybe it's just we are watching DCU still in "infancy" and giving it an unfair comparison. I think Marvel did a few actor changes early on before solidifying their Universe.

Henry was OK as superman, but I don't really see him as the only choice. It's been a while since I've watched him, but he didn't seem very "there" in the movies, speaking lines, acting presence, etc. He looked the part, at least.

Compared to someone like Gal Gadot, on the other hand. She seems very fitting for the role she plays in the DCU, and if they were to lose her, I think it'd be a bigger blow to the Universe. Almost like if Marvel lost Downey for Iron Man. Or if the Mutants didn't have Old Prof X played by Stewart anymore (not counting Young Prof X, though I like McAvoy, and am looking forward to his character coming back in Glass.)

Still haven't watched Iron Fist 2. Turned it on and started the first episode, but paused half way thru. I have 6 or 7 hours left on book 3 of Peter Hamilton's Night's Dawn trilogy, so I'm probably going to do some housework and finish that off. Speaking of... I'm not even 100% sure I finished the last episode of Luke Cage's latest season. I might have lost that in a hectic work schedule. Need to go back and finish that if I haven't.

I watched Next Gen on Netflix. Mostly because it looked very "Big Hero 6"-like. It was very close, I think. In more than just a "here is a robot" sense. If Hiro stayed all "emo" the whole movie instead of getting over it and becoming a Super Hero with friends right away, that is. Still liked it.

I'm not much of a Gadot fan. She was basically a non-entity in BvS and Justice League, and I think most of the credit for her performance in Wonder Woman should be given to Patty Jenkins and Chris Pine. I think Cavill could have been the unifying factor for the DCEU if everyone wasn't too busy trying to emulate Nolan's Dark Knight.

Speaking of Cavill, His manager and WB both gave non-denial denials about his future with the universe, which is pretty worrying. Since if it weren't true then someone would have said so, so I think there's some severe contract negotiations going on and the possibility of his being kicked is there. Not sure how a link to Instagram will work, but Cavill weighed in as well.

Disney XD released a full trailer for their upcoming 'toon Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors, and as I've seen described in a few places it is very reminicent to those old Burger King Kid's Club placemats from the '90s. You just need a kid in a wheelchaiir.

Goddamn, so far my experience with Spider-Man is two PS4 system updates and three game version updates.

The people behind Riverdale are giving Sabrina the Teenage Witch the makeover they gave the Archie comics... . I'm not interested. Unless maybe there is nudity or something. (I remember finding out Aunt Zelda did softcore stuff on Showtime when I was a teen).

I actually haven't bothered with Riverdale. A few people I know watch it, but it just doesn't seem to be my thing. Maybe I'm missing out, but usually after a couple seasons I'll just not bother at all even if someone tells me it would be worth it.

I got an achievement for climbing up to the top of Avenger's Tower and perching on the edge. A bit of an odd thing to give an achievement for, but I suppose the devs knew that if they put it in there people would climb it.

I'm not a fan of musicals. Ones I have enjoyed are few and far in between. Don't even like it when animated films break out into singing all the time. I was disappointed by Sweeney Todd being a musical, and just recently tried to watch Greatest Showman cause I heard a few coworkers had enjoyed it, but couldn't make it past the first 20 minutes or so after they kept singing the same song across different generations. I'm sure it's a great movie, just not my cup-o-tea.

As for Mary Poppins... I think Nanny McPhee did it better.

I'm sure it will be a box office hit though.

I like music, and am pretty indiscriminate where it comes from. I even liked Galavant when it was airing.

Captain Marvel trailer. I'm a bit underwhelmed by it. I mean, it's definitely visually impressive, even if it has that stupid helmet and no sash. Punching Granny was amusing, though. (Even if it is a shapeshifting alien, or Basil Exposition's mother.[/sm])

I'm not terribly impressed. Not that they show much to be impressed by.
