Supergirl, Mondays at 8pm this November on CBS. Competing against Gotham, apparently. (Will edit if other information is found. All I can find is that Gotham "returns this Fall") I have just about zero interest in the Kryptonian powerset, and even less in a show based off a proverbial knockoff, but at the same time Gotham isn't exactly the most enjoyable hour either. I'll watch one and record the other, most likely. Just can't figure which at the moment.

Have a vidya.

From the director of Justin Bieber's movies:

That's just awesome.

I think my favorite part of it was that Laurel was such a crappy character they decided to just resurrect her dead sister. Not that anyone in Arrow stayed dead anyway, but still. Much rather have her than Black Canary.

Josh Boone to direct New Mutants spinoff.

Misplaced Edit-ion: Have some Crossbones. The pneumatic hand thingies are a bit weird, but I guess after having a helicarrier fall on him he'd want some better armor and such.

From what I gather, it's a time travel show so it's less a resurrection so much as "plucked out of the time stream prior to being made dead." I just hope the tone is more Flash and less Arrow. Far, far less Arrow.

Well, they said "A deceased assassin." and showed what I assumed was her rising from the Lazarus pool. Maybe they get her body after Speedy kills her? Or since the league had her body originally, she was always resurrected. It was just never shown. Cause, you know, no one ever stays dead in Arrow anyway.

I can almost guarantee it is going to be a lot more Flash and a lot less Arrow. It has to be. Arrow itself appears to be taking a hint and going toward the Flash side of things, with the introduction of miniature Atom.

My name is Casey Jones. After five hellish years in PeeWee Hockey, I have come home with only one goal - to kick turtle butt.

Hope in HumanEdit-ion: This is cute. Besides the story itself (what little of a story, that is), the costume does look pretty awesome.

All Is Lost Edit-ion: Well, looks like we might have found out one of the contract stipulations to get Will Smith to act in Suicide Squad.

Supergirl pilot has been "leaked." Flash and Constantine were as well (probably others, I'm sure of these two though) so I figure at this point it's almost a safe bet to assume that they're done so purposely to gauge audience reaction instead of paying a room full of shmucks ten dollars and ask questions afterwards.

"My name is Kara Zor'El" They're literally doing it with every DC show it seems. Though the "actor who previously played the role as a father figure" thing is great for me at least, with Dean Cain and John Shipp. Jimmy Olsen is way too suave. They took the geeky Jimmy archetype and put him in another character who is destined to be the Felicity of the show. I always thought the three point stance was badly overdone and annoying, but seeing it in a froopy sweater adds a degree of awful I didn't think was possible. The special effects are clunky, but considering it's a TV show budget they're not so bad. Maybe it's just the first episode, but it's preachy. I kind of liked her when she was plucky and excited to be a hero, and even the self doubt of getting beaten up worked for the character, but holy carp. "The S stands for Strawman." (And yes, the whole "It's not an S" line does come up. In fact, so does the Man of Steel First Flight scene. And apparently her regular street clothes are all fireproof and impervious to wind-sheer.)

"If we call her Supergirl doesn't that make us anti-feminist?" though I think Girl Jonah Jameson handled it well enough, and "She's not strong enough. [...] Why, because she's just a girl? Exactly what we were counting on." were both quite cringeworthy moments. They were just so ridiculously unnatural.

And finally, apparently not only can she not keep a secret identity to save her life, but no one in her life can. Not her, not her sister, and apparently not even Superman. The first two kind of work within the story, but the last one was such a what the fck moment as to make me rub my temples.
Between the last point and its a show based around Kryptonian Physiology I can't imagine watching it. Think I'll be sticking with Gotham and DVRing this and maybe watching it when I remember it exists while deleting other programs to make room. I didn't think it was bad, but it certainly wasn't good and the fact it is about a character whose powerset turns me off doesn't help my opinion of the show in any way. Your mileage may vary.

By the Horry Host of Hoggoth Edit-ion: Tilda Swinton in talks to be the Ancient One in Dr Strange movie. Decent actor, but my dream casting is still James Hong. Well, my true dream casting is Vincent Price as Strange and Victor Wong as the Ancient One, but they're not available at the moment. Smiley: frown

On the one hand I don't want to see the Ancient One white-washed. On the other hand Tilda Swinton would probably be amazing in the roll.

I will not be watching Supergirl.

The only things I have seen with her in it would be Snowpiercer, Constantine, and Narnia. I can't say I know enough about the Ancient One , or that her acting in those films, has left me all that excited about it. Not to say that she wouldn't do good, I'm sure she would. Just that I don't feel any excitement about the possible choice.

She played a baddy in all of those movies, right? An awkward looking, sort of lanky, baddy. I guess she was supposed to be somewhat charismatic in Narnia, but that personality didn't work well imo.

I think my only exposure to Doctor Strange and the Ancient One is the animated film from 2007, I watched on Netflix last year sometime.

It's an odd choice IMO. I mean, I kinda get the whole "make traditionally male characters female" bit. Think it's overdone, but whatever. In this case though, casting a very very white female as the Tibetan monk who guards the ancient secret knowledge of magic and will train and appoint the next Sorcerer Supreme, just seems like a massive stretch. I get that we want to live in a world where gender and race don't matter, but when you're dealing with an "ancient one", you kinda have to take into account the culture that would have appointed that person to that position. Ignoring history is silly (not even history, given I don't think women are allowed to be monks in Tibet today). And even if you really really really wanted to make the character female, why not make it an Asian female?

Seems like dueling minorities or something, and I just find that whole bit tedious.

The cast is less important than the visuals for me on this one. I want a trippy flick, lots of colorful spells being thrown about and astral projection and dimension hopping. The works. And I want magic, damn it. They better not puss out and try to pass it off as science. I do wonder how they'll handle Wong, though. As if there wasn't enough delicious hungry piranha in this pool, vying to devour each other, that is going to be a delicious truckload of flesh rending aquadeath.

Deadpool movie finished filming apparently, and new scene leaks for Suicide Squad reveal Batman chasing at least Harley and probably Joker proving once again that apparently you just can't have a DC movie without Batman in it. I guess the WB is going for a more Fox's X-Men vibe than MCU's Avengers. Also Harley seems to have face tattoos in those stills, so wonderful.

Was that the one that started off with the dog from Ghostbusters fighting a team of teenagers with attitude? If it is what I think it was, I had to stop watching when the grey haired guy thought a tornado was at all how "concealing" something worked.

Took me a little while to figure out exactly what you were describing, but yes, it is the one where there are a couple demon dogs and the Ancient One has a group of people fighting them off to protect the sanctuary. And some ancient evil locked away between dimensions was using the dream realm to reconnect to dimension, sort of like Freddy Kruger.

Edit:
It appears to have been taken down from Netflix sometime last month or so.

First official synopsis for Man of Steel 2 - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Championship Edition wrote:
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
Also from DC, Girl of Steel Supergirl will start October 26 at 8:30 PM, and then regularly show Mondays at 8:00 PM starting November 2, and competing with Gotham like previously speculated.

Also Netflix drops "aka" from their next show, Jessica Jones, as well as the live action Warner Brothers "Akira" seems to have been revived with one of the Daredevil writers on board. And we'll add Alexandra Shipp, who will be playing Storm in the upcoming movie teasing audiences with possible clue as to her appearance. Smiley: inlove

The Walking Edit-ion: Jon Bernthal, best known as Shane of Walking Dead fame, cast as Frank Castle for Daredevil Season 2. As if I needed an excuse to watch it after the spectacular first season. Amusingly, he really does kind of have Steve Dillon's "Frank Face." (1) (2) (3)

Also we know Bullseye is going to be in it, by way of Jason Statham being in talks for the role and then not after apparently the "internet losing it's collective **** over it." I'm okay with him not being Lester. I've seen a few of his movies, and he pretty much played the exact same character in all of them and it just doesn't work for Bullseye.

Jesus busy day. Sideshow Travel collectables accidentally spoiled next season Agents of SHIELD Coulson. So, you know, spoiler alert and whatnot. Retweeted by the Son of Coul Clark Gregg himself, so I'll believe it.

What is this. I cannot understand it.

Really though, I don't understand why they would do that.

It'll be interesting to see Shane-Punisher in Daredevil. I liked the Punisher movies, don't know how two bad-***-vigilantes out to clean up Hell's Kitchen will work in the one series though.

Looking forward to Batman vs. Superman. I know the "meh" factor is strong, when compared to some Marvel shows, but I'm really digging the whole "False God" anti-Alien sentiment around Superman.

I don't know what to think of Jessica Jones. I haven't read anything about it, I don't know anything about it, so I have no opinion about it. But I think it was a good move to drop the "aka" from the title.

I'll probably watch Supergirl, but don't expect much. Having not read anything about what it's going to be, I'm assuming it's going to be something like Smallville, which I never got into.

I like Statham, but he is pretty much a one-trick pony. The Adam Sandler of action movies, everything just blends into one movie.

Because the character in one show wasn't enough.

And in real pseudo faux news, Baron Mordo. Another good actor. Meh, forget what I said. Actually interesting aspect is that the entire cast are British English. Still waiting on Wong.

Have some Ant-Man posters: (1) (2) (3) (4)

Who You Gonna Call Edit-ion: Meet the Janine in Ghostbusters reboot.

Unconfirmed rumors from clickbait sites say the last Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie will be based on Old Man Logan. Considering the studio ownership of the various characters involved in that particular storyline, I find it hard to believe.

It'll be easy enough for Fox to replace characters they don't own with the ones they do. And really, who doesn't want to see a family of in-bred Ben Grimms?

There's also Old Hawkguy, Captain AmeRedSkull, and the Spider-Buggy which would present a bit of an issue. Okay, I guess the Spider-Buggy wouldn't be that big of an issue and could be ridiculously easy to replace, but I'd really love to see a live action Spider-Buggy.

In other not news, modern incarnation of the Doctor to voice in animated adaptation of Chew.

Also, Ava Duvernay officially confirmed to direct Black Panther movie. While Selma was a good biopic, not sure if that translates to action cape movie.

No Point In Edit-ions: Tom Holland is the next Peter Parker.
snippet wrote:
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are proud to announce that after a full worldwide casting search, Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next Spider-Man film, in theaters in IMAX and 3D on July 28, 2017. The film will be directed by Jon Watts, director of "Cop Car," the upcoming thriller that made its debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.
Never heard of Holland, and all I know of Watts is a quick youtube search of Cop Car, which at least looked neat. Neat in the sense it's a trailer and they're designed to be interesting and not always an accurate representation of an actual film. Guess time will tell, true believers.

Speaking of Holland, Feige confirmed Spider-Holland will be in Civil War, so at least those rumors are put to rest. I'm betting he'll be the rookie hero who messes up and causes the Super Hero Registration Act to kick off. Mainly because I don't believe they can use Speedball. Or near the end of the movie, Steve will deflect a Repulsor which will cause some collateral damage, and the scene will go into slow motion showing Spider-Holland saving a civilian, which will knock some sense into Steve to end the fight and take the moral victory and get arrested and such.
