Anyone else watching this? It's my favorite show right now (though Binbougami ga fills a much needed comedy gap). It's based off a LN series, and apparently some things have been done out of order for continuity / chronological sake which some people don't like, but I haven't noticed besides ep 3 which felt rushed and out of place.

Just wondering what others' thoughts were, especially if any of you are familiar with the LN. I'm getting excited to see where it's going.

I didn't even realize things were going to be out of order, but I did notice this. The show never tells us the state of the world (highest floor reached, population count, etc.) and rarely, if ever, references something we were not told already, so I'm surprised anyone would notice.

I noticed they were out of order, but that's because I've also been reading the light novels. Basically, what happened is this:

Book 1: Events of episode 1 -> skip 2 years
Book 2: After book 1 ends the whole SAO arc, book 2 contains 4 short stories, three taking place after episode 1's story, but before the 2 year time skip's point, and 1 taking place during the end of book 1, but not included within it (however, it is important as the character focused on in this short story becomes a major part of books 3 and 4).

The story sort of makes more sense if you see it chronologically, since I pretty much skipped over book 2 thinking it was just fluff, but by the end of book four I was obviously missing some ****. That said, I'm absolutely in love with the story (it's by the same author as Accel world, and is actually, apparently, set in the same universe, so it's a sort of "technical" prequel), and it's really obvious reading the novels that the author has played enough MMOs to have some idea what she's talking about. I have noticed that the anime seems to be leaning towards rule of cool over accurate portrayal of the books, but that's understandable. That said, I'm really looking forward to episode 5+, since there's only 1 more short story they've not covered (though you will get to see kirito being a badass in it, since he's pretty much badass incarnate in the story Seriously, it's a major plot point in the final battle of book 1, and the entirety of books 3 and 4), and once they get to the actual story, the action and intrigue will pick up.

I'm kinda hoping they don't just do the first book, but that they keep going, but I haven't read books 5+ yet, so I don't know how long the story stays interesting.

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

I really like this series so far. Probably my second favorite show this season (after Jinrui.)
