Magefable - an illustrated fantasy adventureFollow

I've been playing WoW and EQ for the past decade and all the Final Fantasy's since the first one in the late eighties. I write a series of books titled Magefable which I'm raising funds to publish on Kickstarter.com. It follows the adventures of two mice, one of which is a geomancer visiting the temples of the elementals in order to gain the power to defeat the cruel lion Sinvicious. The series is fully illustrated and is highly influenced by RPGs as well as the Redwall series of books. If you can, please check it out. Durbin has always dreamed of becoming a swashbuckling adventurer like his legendary father. But unfortunately he's stuck in the secluded valley forest of Verdancia, far away from the sway and swagger of the sea. On one fateful evening a mouse named Clove and her spear hog companion Herod stumble into his village. They had escaped from the terrible lion Sinvicious who wants to stop Clove before she can gain the full power of a geomancer--a mage with the ability to control the elements. Fire, water, wind, lightning, all can be controlled by a geomancer. They can fly, turn themselves invisible, make their skin as solid as rock, shift the earth, and even control life... Although all Clove can do at this point is make weeds move.

The next morning when Durbin awakes he finds Clove and Herod gone. Unable to resist the call of adventure, he journeys out into the woods to find them, dragging along his reluctant friend Morro the hedge hog, who would rather be sitting at home eating scones and berries. On their way they meet other new friends such as Reverie, a wounded sparrow who can mesmerize animals with his singing, and Bailey, a courageous and boisterous young squirrel who is hunting for a dragon to tame. But as Durbin and Morro seek Clove and Herod, so does Krochek the Hunter--the most vile, savage rat ever to emerge from Sinvicious's kingdom. Along with his horde of bloodthirsty rodents he will tear the forest apart in his effort to find them.

Sounds like a really, really weird acid trip, and/or loony toons the RPG. Especially the part about the geomancer, since the art of Geomancy is, historically, using dirt to tell the future.

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my thread. I'm not certain where you got the idea that Magefable would sound anything like Final Fantasy 10, as I posted in the general Zam forum and never mentioned FFX specifically. I did, however, mention how the FF series in general has influenced the writing of the series. My main character is a geomancer, which is one of my favorite jobs from FF Tactics and a job which I felt has been underutilized in writing and art. I hope to give readers a new, unique view on what a geomancer can be. The rest of my characters are also influenced by the jobs of FF games, such as warriors, bards, archers, dragoons, etc., all which have been adapted to fit into the world that I created. Plus a lot of the mythology that I learned growing up due to FF is in this series, such the elemental gods Ifrit, Leviathan, Bahamut, etc.

I never read Deathmate, I wasn't a fan of Image due to Liefeld destroying New Mutants, one of the greatest comics ever, and turning it into the terrible series X-Force, plus most of the artists were lazy by never getting stuff done on time and wasted their talent illustrating terrible scripts when they went to Image. But I'm still vaguely familiar with Deathmate, not sure I see any connection though. I know of it being about a character from both Image and Valiant falling in love and destroying the universes of both comics...

I'm well aware of that, I was just making a joke about the awesome power of telling the future with dirt, because the likelihood of absolutely anyone actually donating money to a random kickstarter belonging to someone who's post count is less than 5 and is obviously a brand new user who knows nothing of the community, nor it's general etiquette, is zero. Hell, the number of people who'll give a @#%^ is less than 10. I'm sure you're well aware of this, but if you're not, you really should think before you post.

Also, you can quote multiple posts and reply with one, single post. Replying to every single post with a new post is really, really, really annoying.
