I'm digging the season so far, but what's the deal with Dexter wanting to kill numbnuts? For cancelling his credit cards? I guess if we want to get all stand-your-ground in here, the dude was trespassing in his house. Whatever I guess. Still excited to see what happens!

s7 is better than the last two seasons imo. But should have ended with the season 4 finale. They won't be able to top that.

Edit: Sorry for the necropost. Didn't look at the dates and since some posters were already talking about s7... Smiley: frown

While I agree that they likely won't top the fourth season, this season has been a pretty decent one. I was hoping the kids wouldn't make an appearance at all, and La Guerta is still annoying as hell, and there's way too little Masuka, but overall it's been enjoyable. It's still worth my time to watch it.

I've mostly enjoyed Dexter this season, but the whole "introduce a new character" so Dexter can learn about "x" emotion this season is getting tired. Granted, when said character is as hot as Sara from Chuck, it helps.

Well that was a big episode. I figured Dexter realizing he was responsible for all of his past victims would have effected him a little bit more & for longer than it did, but this is Dexter we're talking about. Knowing that there's one final season after this means the upcoming cliffhanger season finale is probably going to drive me as nuts as the death of Rita.

I kind of have the suspicion Deb dissolved the pills herself.

Yeah, I'll be surprised if she didn't.

Damn, was not expecting that ending.

While obviously that ending is going to bring Dex & Deb closer, for better or worse, all in all I thought that was a pretty underwhelming season finale.

It was surprising. And shocking. But good? Haven't decided for myself yet.

Also Dexter behaved pretty sloppy on several occasions in this episode. The abduction of Estrada. Leaving his car in the open in front of the container for La Guerta to see. And he couldn't know if La Guerta was coming alone or bringing some backup with her.

I just hope Hannah is in s8.

Maybe I'm being spoiled by Breaking Bad, but the final season of Dexter was a massive letdown as a whole. While there were some good episodes (the first & much of the last) - we've seen Dexter trying to teach someone the code before, Saxton was an underwhelming big bad, & all the potential cool stuff with Vogel was washed away when she figured out who the brain surgeon was & became "Mom". Deb was never better than when she was self destructing - but then she got better. Then she had no conflict with Dexter at all & their relationship became boring (I did like the end of her arc, though.).

I didn't want Dexter to have a happy ending & while it didn't, I feel like it was a cop out. I would have much preferred the whole Perfect Storm ending, but they kinda ruined it with the epilogue.

Yeah, the finale made me realize what a letdown this season was.
There were too many loose ends.

Oh well, now the wait for Breaking Bad's finale.

I quit watching Dexter somewhere in Season 2 when it became more about the drama than anything else, I liked season 1 though.

I watched seasons 5, 7, and 8 only. Bad choices I guess, since most agree that 1-4 are the good ones. Season 7 was not good, 8 was awful.

Ya, the first 2 seasons are good, 3's ok, & 4 is hands down the best. John Lithgow is the big bad is Season 4 & is the creepiest serial killer the show has ever seen (he kills his victims by getting naked in a tub with them, slitting their wrists, & holding them while they bleed out.) The season finale of 4 has a HUGE gut punch at the end, but season 5 certainly didn't match it.

Olde thread is olde, but...

Yea, after season 4, they really had nowhere to go with Dexter. Honestly, they should have started his descent down that season and rapped at 5 at the most. I haven't watched the final seasons, but I was losing interest. The books are fantastic though.

Just watched it and after all the negative comments on teh webz I expected worse. Sure, it was not great but season 8 was better (IMO) than seasons 5 till 7. Agree with poster above. They should not have brought him back after the storm scene.
