The blender will go into a higher setting, but so much will be thrown in that it chokes and stalls at certain points before whipping into high speed again. Sometimes the choking and stalling is a book long.

Procrastinate all over that book.
I was going to try and get the audio of this series, but if it is really that slow..F that, I need to stay awake at work.

Read to book 3, skip to book 9, skip 10, then read the last ones. i think it's 10 at least. Whichever one has Perrin chase whatsherass all over the planet for 1,500 ******* pages, covering a grand total of maybe what, 10 miles? tops?

I think the problem was that Robert Jordan started getting bored with it. Book 1-3, great. Book 4 and 5, needed story exposition, back characters, etc, a bit long, but I get it. You needed something like that to give the story depth. Book 5, he has his big heart attack. After that, his writing changed. Changed for the longer, but not necessarily for the better. Books 6-8 realistically could have been 1 book. Book 9, when they finally do the really cool thing they have been hinting at for 8 books, that was worth it. But then he goes back to "i'm writing because I get paid by the word" mode. And then after putting everyoine through that, he dies before finishing it. Though I will say that Branden Sanderson really seems to be doing a good interpertation to finish the series, much closer to the first 3 books, and perhaps even a bit better.

I figure George R.R. martin is going to end up doing the same thing to us.

I enjoyed the first three books. Book four was ok, iir. Originally I was reading them as they were released. As the character web grew and the time between book releases lengthened, it got really hard to stay current with the rapidly expanding storyline. The stories weren't good enough to reread. I made it to book 7 or 8 but never finished the last one I started.

I think the main plot got watered down with all the diverging then converging character stories. Or something.

The only book that seriously annoyed me was Book 11 I think. Felt more like a very long side story. I've heard complaints about filler sentences where one sentence is as long as a standard paragraph, but that's never bothered me before...

The books start doubling in size around halfway through Bijou. Add that to the stretches where nothing happens, and I promise you will not be keeping this pace.

Deciding not to bother with them 4 chapters into the 1st book was one of my better decisions then, I guess.

Because once I start a series, I have to finish it. I can't just stop halfway through. And it's not like there are whole books where it's boring. Just chunks in the middle of a few of them. That happens in other good series too (e.g. Song of Ice and Fire). It just seems more pronounced in WoT because there are so many more books.

Plus, the last couple of books have made it so worth it. They have been excellent. I am so excited for the last book to come out.
