I'd like to say it is a pretty epic time to be a comic book fan, what with all the movies being released, but for a time when the PS1 was released I thought it was a pretty epic time to be a fan of RPGs as well, and I feel that genre is on life support now. Thus far, the releases haven't been awful, though some stinkers have been released. I just chalk that up more to standard hit or miss of anything that is Hollywoodian. This will probably be a stinker.

Comic written by Fred Van Lent and Andrew Foley for Platinum Studio Comics, IE: basically an indy company, Movie starring Harrison Ford, 13 from House and the James Bond that isn't Sean Connery. Without giving too much away, the story plays around the concept of Manifest Destiny, but on a galactic scale. Personally, I wasn't very fond of it. Incredibly cliche set ups and predictable from page 1 to page 116.

I can see it making a decent movie, with plenty of action and explosions. And by decent I mean if you're fond of the type of movie where the entire draw are the action scenes and nothing else. Granted I tend to ... I can't say enjoy, so I'll go with "not hate," those types of movies, so we'll see. Just from reading the comic I can't say this is worth the full price of a ticket, but wouldn't leave the theater if it were part of a cheap matinee bundle. Does have Harrison Ford, though. Might be the only difference between crap and gold.

Saw the preview of this several months ago (or maybe last year?). Everyone in the theater thought it was a joke. Guess it's not.

Same here. I think as a general rule, I'm not interest in any movie that has an X vs. Y title.

Cowboys vs. Aliens
Alien vs. Predator
Freddy vs. Jason
Megashark vs. Octogator.
Alienshark vs. Godzilla vs. Predator vs. Octomom

You get the idea.

I'm surprised at Daniel Craig. I thought he was better than this.

Aliens vs Ninjas was pretty damn awesome, as long as you don't expect more than a comedy/action flick.

Alien versus Predator was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, but I was probably expecting it to be more like the original Alien (the only one of the series I've seen).

Mega Shark versus Giant Octopus is one of the movies I still want to see.

I had no idea this was based on a comic book, and **** you all for not thinking this will be absolutely awesome. Harrison Ford + Daniel Craig + Olivia Wilde = Smiley: drool.

Better than doing a fun summer movie that will probably make him a boatload of money? Smiley: confused

I was just being glib. While I would much rather see him in more serious fare, that's just a personal preference.

Freddy vs Jason was better than most of the Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th movies. I'm not saying it was a very good movie, just not that bad imo.

I'm more surprised with Ford at this point in his career.

He's gotta make up for Indy 4 somehow.

He could start by pistol whipping Shia LaBeouf.

I predict a new movie axiom rule, on par with the one about odd numbered star trek films. "Any harrison ford movie involving aliens or fridgerator derived nuclear weapon survival should be avoided At all costs. Unless it's star wars."

My initial reaction was wondering if it was a joke.

That evolved into "Oh God, avoid this one like the plague."

And then I noticed the big names attached. Like, Spielberg as an executive producer. I don't exactly know how much influence he would have there, but I figure he wouldn't sign on unless he at least gave his blessing.

Now it's just confusion. I still think it's going to suck. But I want to see it, at least with a group of friends. Watching a crappy movie with friends is always a good pastime.
