Might as well keep up the Comic to Movie thread trend.

The best thing about Captain America's backstory is that, for the most part, it never changes. Unlike other heroes, their backstories have to be altered slightly so their ages make sense. Tony Stark was first injured in Vietnam, but as time went on that didn't work anymore to keep him his age, so it was canonically changed to being injured in Iraq. That kind of change I can tolerate. Sometimes you just have to. Cap, though, has the built in "frozen for whatever amount of time we need" plot device to always keep him in World War II. So no matter how much things change, whether in comics or cartoons or even movies, we'll always have Cap punching *****.

And really, that's all I'm looking for in the movie. I enjoy Captain America, though he isn't really that high on my list of favorites. I've been reading his book recently, after I caught up with Iron Man and needed something else to read, and he's got a pretty good story. Though, I don't see it being in the movie. Just from the trailers, much like Iron Man and (I'm asuming) Thor are based on the Ultimate Universe, which I'm unfamiliar with outside the the basics.

I do see a few canon inconsistencies, but they don't appear to be so far off that I'd mind them at all. Even the costume shown doesn't look wrong, just a functional version of his original costume. The one that was just a helmet and not a full cowl. The history looks right, the villain is, to put simply, the only villain I'd expect to see in a Captain America movie.

So what I'm looking forward to: Steve Rogers punching *****, and Mad Shield Bouncing Geometry Physics Skillsâ„¢. Really, this might end up being my favorite comic movie. Though, I will concede that I'll still find issues, but I doubt they'll be anywhere near as epic of annoyances as with the X-Men movies, Spider-Man, and even the lack of butler Jarvis from Iron Man. And yes, I realize that Jarvis in Ultimate is the name of the computer, which makes it correctly done in the movies.

I still miss Jarvis the Butler.

I'll watch it. Pretty much all I know of the storyline is what I've seen in the trailers, so I won't have any of your problems. I wish it wasn't in 3D though.

Honestly, I'm looking forward to Cowboys and Aliens much more than Captain America. But due to the stupidly good deal at the local crappy theater, I'll end up seeing both.

While I'm looking forward to this, Captain America has never been the most intriguing or entertaining superhero to me. He is a product of a different time, and while I really respect that and do enjoy some aspects of his character (particularly the shield), I'm a little worn out on *****.

I never read comic books, but I've known the super hero movies from their cartoons (spiderman, X-man etc.). Captain America is the one I know almost nothing about. In fact I only know he fought in WWII and he's an Avenger. So I'm looking forward to this one.

I've never been a huge fan of Captain America either but it looks like an entertaining movie none the less.

We made Capt America shields out of cardboard when I was a kid and hurled them all over. I remember reading some of the stories when I was a wee sprat involving Cap vs Red Skull so that would be pretty cool if it is handled well.

The only thing I know about Captain America is shield slash into hyper charging star.

Jarvis the butler was in The Ultimates, & gay to boot, but I think he ended up siding with Loki et. al in Ultimates 2 and got what was coming to him.

I'm less excited to see Chris Pine as Cap than I am to see Hugo Weaving as The Red Skull. I loves me a good bad guy, the Red Skull is about as bad as they come, & Hugo Weaving plays a great villain.

The only thing I see missing from the trailers is any mention of Bucky.

I still think it is weird they didn't release Captain America over the Holiday weekend to go with the 4th.
I know nothing really about him other then Red Skull, and he gets frozen (and come back later..). Will probably go see it.

They probably didn't want to go up against Transformers.

That's what they do. Get themselves into a bunch of video games and movies and then you're tired of them. Then it's BAM! Holocaust v2.0 & the Second Invasion of Poland and you're all "Meh... I'm stricken with **** ennui..."

It's called the "long game" man, and you've fallen for it.

Pretty sure Chris Evans is playing Cap.

Yeah, its Chris Evans. Can't say I remember any of his movies. I guess that makes it easier to go into the movie without expectations.[quote=Omegavegeta]The only thing I see missing from the trailers is any mention of *************************** the "Fear Itself" event going on right now. Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four, played the lead role in Push. Other than that, yeah don't remember him doing much.

Am I the only person who has an issue with one actor playing two major marvel roles?

Not really, Marvel killed off the Torch a month ago. It's the Terrific Three + Spiderman now.

They're now known as The Future Foundation, & Spidey's new suit is lame.

I kind of like the story involved with the three Spider Armors. Getting Peter back into Super Science has been a pretty decent move, though I'm sure the Spider Island event will bring Spidy back to his original power set. Just hope they keep the Super Science intact afterwards.

Who are the bad guys in the Captain America movie? I saw a commercial for the game, and he was fighting some alien looking things.

According to the trailers it's the Red Skull, Arnim Zola, Baron Strucker, and Hydra, along with the standard *****.
