It is that time of the year again. FCBD is tomorrow. So if you have nothing to do on your Saturday why not head down to your local Comic Book store and see if they are partaking in this grand day!

Does look cool. I guess I'm lucky and the town that I go to that has a comic store actually has 2 with a 3 store giving them away. So I plan on coming home with all and some more.

Our store is mainly a Magic/YuGiOh shop with comics and PnP books.

The one I worked at 6th ave Cards and Comics didnt actually have comics. It had 2 DDR machines a bunch of arcade games Beatmania and the such and a few shelves of Pnp games. Most of the sales were from cards.

Picked up the Spider-Man comic on the way from the theater. Would have picked up more, but the other comics really didn't capture my attention.

Good to see the return of Julia after the events of The Gauntlet.

I've been reading it, but it hasn't established itself yet. I like the premise, but unless it stops feeling like a "Monster-of-the-Week" type story, I can't see it lasting very long. Without going into spoilers, I love how Marvel has no throw-away characters. Even a background character can end up not only reappearing but spotlighting. So that makes Flash that much more awesome. Not including his recent past to put him in his situation hits close to home for me.

So: Like the idea and the characters, and I hope something really develops soon or he book is doomed. I figure he'll feature in the Fear Itself storyline. Wish they wuld stop throwing the goddamn Hulk into everything.

Yea.

I'll spoil the jest of it:
He joins the..Navy (to lazy to look it up), and goes off to war. His reason for joining the military is because he wants to be a hero, like his favorite hero Spider-man. He gets both his legs blown off, but doesn't let that be the end of him. Military group comes to him due to his awesomesauce record and offers him a job...to dawn the venom symbiote and to go on missions. The catch is he only has 48 hours to get his mission done. This stops the symbiote from "bonding" to him. The group he works for also implants a bomb with him on the line that if he loses control and goes all "rawr!" they blow him up. (I don't have the comic with me to look it up to be 100%) He is the 3rd person to take this mission (other 2 went kaboom..the 2nd one had blew eyes).

They are only on their 2nd issue, so the story is still building up. In the latest issue he had a Bonding moment and I hope he does get to go all BA and the series can take off in a new direction with maybe a "good" badass venom hero...could be neat.

This is the opposite of Deadpool, who should be in everything, even though he isn't.

He had gotten out of the Army for a while and was a PE teacher, but decided to re-sign up to go to Iraq. While on a mission his team was ambushed and a higher ranked soldier (I don't remember if it was an officer or NCO, but that's a little irrelevent) was shot and immobilized. Flash was shot in both legs, but could have escaped without consequence, and the immobilized soldier even commanded him to do so, but Flash decided that since Spider-Man constantly sacrifices himself and puts his life on the line, the least Flash could do is the same. So he took some adrenaline drug the terrorists were stock piling and got himself and the other soldier out, but the drug, extra weight, and additional activity destroyed his legs' chances of recovery and had to be amputated below the knee.

I think I'm missing some details, but it was a pretty awesome story overall.

At least Marvel treats that more like a funny meme than a serious plot point. Hulk is just thrown into any event, and not even as a secondary character but as a main freakin' plot point.

I was highly disappointed Marvel canceled Deadpool Team-Ups. I thought that was the best book they had.

One final note: Eddie Brock was always pretty badass, and I never really liked Carnage. Toxin was kind of weird, but he wasn't all that badass.
