Gruesome Horror-FantasyFollow

I have just discovered Tamara Silar Jones.

I was intrigued by the blurb of her first book, which seemed to be offering a cross-over genre of a hard-core detective/mystery book set in in a medievalesque fantasy world. What I got was EXACTLY that, but I was surprised by the level of ghastly violent gore in the story. Being me, I kind of enjoyed it. I felt sick to my stomach once or twice, but otherwise enjoyed the ride. But if I had to choose, I'd actually file this book in the Horror shelves of a bookstore, not Fantasy, nor Mystery.

Ghost in the Snow is the first book. Excellent writing. Good plot if you can cope with the gore. I don't know if the author was consciously inspired by the Jack the Ripper case, but the escalating mutilations reminded me of it. Excellent characterisations. I really fell in love with the main characters, and was interested in them enough that I immediately bought the second and third books.

Threads of Malice came next, and my God the author pulled no punches. This one was full of extreme sexual violence mostly perpetrated against male children. Again I was absorbed in my sympathy with the main characters. Absorbed with the story. I don't apologise for enjoying a fictional account of such horrible depravity, such tortures inflicted upon characters. But I understand why this book attracted a review that reviled the entire book for its storyline. There are certain readers that would find this book making them sick, and nothing but sick.

I am taking a break before reading Valley of the Soul. But if you like Horror and gore, or you can cope with it in order to meet sympathetic characters... I recommend this series.

Hmmm is a quick google wasnt enough. Wonder is theres audio book versions, my stupid brain has a hard time concentrating on one thing at a time like reading, so i usually listen to my books (Most I have read at one time or another).

Definitely want to check this series out, sounds good.
