I still remember all the threads in =28 about Battlestar Galactica when I posted there regularly. I'm glad I didn't read them and also a bit angry with myself for not watching the show at the time. Anyone here who hasn't watched it should watch it. My brother and I share very similar interests in media; music, movies, books, television (not including anime/manga which he doesn't partake). I've been trying to get him to watch it but he shrugs it off and bad mouths the show even though he's never seen it, nor has any idea of the shows content.

Anyone here who hasn't watched it and has even the slightest liking of Sci-Fi should watch this amazing show now. I'm just about through season four and it has blown me away so far.

As I'm almost done, it's nearly time to pick up a new series, is Stargate Universe any good? I watched all of SG-1 and Atlantis and enjoyed them as well, but Universe doesn't really catch me the same way.

BSG was a great show with a terrible thrown together ending. The second half of the final season was just awful. As to STU, I watch it, but I'm not sure why. The characters are interesting but the storylines are crap. I was actually relieved when I heard that this is the last season.

BSG is next on my list of shows to watch (when I have time). I have only heard countless good things, so I'm not sure why anyone would badmouth it. I've seen the first couple of episodes, and really wish I had time to devote to more.

STU wasn't good enough apparently, it's been canceled. They are showing the final ten episodes, starting last Monday.

I almost made a topic on BSG about 2 weeks ago Smiley: lol A new BSG browser-based F2P MMO was just released and I was supposed to review it - but I've never seen any of BSG. So I started it up. Loved season 1, season 2 was ok, and so far the first few episodes of season 3 have been the best yet. I stopped wtahcing it for the past week to catch up on anime and articles, but I plan to pick it up again. I heard in the third season we find out several regular cast members have been Cylons the entire time, so it should be interesting to see who it is.

When you start hearing the song in the later episodes, I had no idea what it was going to be. Then when they're flying out to battle and song kicked in it clicked and I got goosebumps. Cover is fantastic.

I really enjoyed Stargate Universe. It's a long long way from the original movie, but I loved the scripted tension between characters and ongoing factions. The chief military officer and the chief scientist are both deeply flawed men, and yet somehow both deeply sympathetic as well. I was hugely pissed that it only got one season.

If you want some time to kill, and can cope with an unfinished story, this has merit for SF fans.

What do you mean unfinished? There are new episodes running right now that will finish up the story. It may be a few years ahead of schedule, but it will have an end.

SGU is decent, they are really having to rush things a bit too fast though, no pun intended. I think the one thing they really missed out on in the premise is that people want a kick *** ship with better enimies, not a broke *** ship that keeps almost blowing up for various reasons. Thats what really hurt the first season of Star Trek Deep Space 9 for instance. But things were starting to get good finally. THe "Twin destinies" episode needed to happen alot earlier than it did though.

BSG was good, but the first season was amazing, and then it goes downhill for a while. They start to redeem things in the latter seasons, but I will say that the ending annoyed me.

Other than that, there isn't really anything good on at all. Caprica, the BSG Prequil of sorts is... um, Bad. for lack of a more descriptive adjective. Dr. Who is on break over here in the U.S. There are no star trek shows in the works. I dunno, we're about to enter a sci fi drought. I blame cutsy vampire shows personally.

Try "Outcasts" from the BBC. (Ought to have been titled Carpathia for obvious reasons once you get into it.)

Another show I VERY much enjoyed, that got canned. Some unexplained apocalypse has overtaken the Earth, and the only known surviving remnants of humanity are on the small colony on the distant planet of Carpathia. A few laggard colony ships are coming in. The planet *seems* habitable enough, apart from occasional mega-storms, but then things get creepy. Something unseen on the planet is inimical to humans. The birth rate plunges. The police force whose jurisdiction is within the walls of the colony (and the stay at home scientists) clash with the expeditionary forces who go outside the walls and feel they know the the planet better, over what the problems and the solutions are for the survival of the colony.
