I don't watch much television--that is, I don't watch much television on a television--and so when a new program airs I tend to pick it up slower than most.

Bob's Burgers is a new show airing in Fox's Sunday Timeslot alongside their other animated weekly comedies such as Family Guy and The Simpsons. It is created by Loren Bouchard who has worked on a few other projects such as Home Movies and Lucy, Daughter of the Devil. Intended to fill the void left by King of the Hill, Bob's Burgers is a very different style than Fox's other animated sitcoms (granted three of them are created by the same guy, and are already fairly derivative of the Simpsons). It seems like a meeting halfway beyond those typical Fox sitcoms and what you might find on Adult Swim.

It's received mix reviews, and from what I can tell it is also a very polarizing show. I thoguht I was going to be repulsed by it, because at times the show is very crude, but I've found myself laughing fairly heartily at least once through each of the four episodes, and it's been worth watching.

The youngest daughter, Louise, is especially charming and my favorite character. I get a sort of Malcolm in the Middle vibe from her. She's intelligent, but primarily interested in having fun and making trouble. She's also somewhat of a psychopath. I also think the mother, Linda, has excellent voicework which is especially surprising considering her voice actor is a man.

If it sounds remotely intriguing, then check it out. You'll probably either love it or hate it. Episode four might be a good place to start, but the pilot is fine as well.

I caught a little of last night's episode, and was not impressed.

The commercials annoyed me. I figured the show would be torture.

I can't blame anyone for not liking it, but I do hope people would give it a chance.

If anything, people should watch the show for Louise.

So this week's episode was fairly awful, much worse than last weeks. Consequently I've decided I'm definitely going to like this show.

Way to avoid being mainstream.

The guy who does the voice for Bob is also the same guy that does the voice for Coach McGuirk on Home Movies, so it's hard to watch it without thinking Home Movies.

Apparently he also does the voice of Carl on Family Guy, but I like Family Guy so that's ok.

As for the show, I tried to watch the first episode on Hulu. I couldn't really get through it. It wasn't as funny as I thought it was going to be. But I'll probably give it another try when I'm really bored.

I thought I was gonna hate it given the way the commercials leading up to it seemed like they were trying to ram the show down my throat and tell me that I was going to like it. I don't like being told what my tastes are.
I gave it a chance anyway and I do enjoy it.

I don't think it's the kind of show that many people will like, and I'd be greatly surprised if Fox keeps it on very long.

He's H Jon Benjamin. He uses a similar voice on many of his characters. There are a few that don't sound the same, like I think he's also Jason on Home Movies. Given the shows creating team, not exactly a surprise he's in it. He's also Archer from Archer.

I think the kids make the show. Specifically the youngest daughter, the son is just... stupid (in a good and bad way). Oldest daughter... I could do without, but it seems that she's kind of a catalyst for the events and jokes so far.
