Oh noes, Disney movie!
So Saturday night, after spending the day being terribly sick, I went on a movie date with my girlfriend to see Tangled, Disney's take on Rapunzel. I'll admit, I usually enjoy Disney movies - I'm a sucker for the old early 90's movies like Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin, and Little Mermaid. I've only seen a few new ones, namely The Princess and the Frog and Enchanted, and while I enjoyed both of them, they weren't quite as good as the old favorites. Probably nostalgia taking me over.
Then I saw Tangled, and I loved it. The entire thing was amazing. The songs were cute, the animation was fantastic, and the voice acting was top-notch. I really shouldn't gush, but the two main characters are some of my favorite less popular personalities - Mandy Moore is Rapunzel (loved A Walk to Remember, and "Only Hope" from it still gives me goosebumps), and I couldn't place who Flynn was for the entire movie until I read the credits and it clicked: Zach Levi, aka Chuck Bartowski from Chuck! The music was great, the action was fast-paced, the animals were appropriately cute and hilarious, especially Pascal. My only issue is I doubt the studio will make back the reported $260 million (second most expensive movie of all time) it cost to create this awesome film, meaning a sequel or another movie of this caliber is very unlikely. That said, I will definitely buy this on DVD when it comes out, and I recommend going to see it.
Also, I saw it in 2D, not 3D. Not sure how much of a difference the 3D would have made.
