I thought I'd see if anyone was keeping up with the "new" series this season. The [# /10] is my ranking for the show on MyAnimeList.

[6/10] Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is basically the R-rated version of Power Puff Girls, in both animation style and.. plot? Panty and Stocking (Angel sisters) take down spirits and collect "Heavens". There's plenty of innuendos, and the show is clearly intended for older audiences. The series conveniently changes its animation style for the NSFW transformation scenes.

[8/10] Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai (Shortened to Ore no Imouto by me and my room mates, lol) or "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute", is probably one of the higher quality (In animation and voice acting at least) series this season.
Kirino has been keeping a secret from her family, when suddenly, her brother stumbles onto something she dropped. That secret turns out to be the focus of the series.
It's basically about Kirino being a closet otaku, and her brother Kyousuke suddenly being in on the secret.

[6/10] Though not a series (4 OVA's, 1 release per month), Tamayura is... I'm not sure how else to describe it but cute. It's loosely focused on the main character's love of picture taking.
I think this scene speaks for itself.

[5/10] Toaru Majutsu no Index II is basically more of the same, with noticeably more fan service.

[5/10] Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls is probably the best animation quality of the season.. and one of the most average plot wise. The main character, Mueakira, has the ability to turn girls into Master Samurai by kissing them.
Yeah..

[6/10] Shinryaku! Ika Musume (Squid Girl, Invasion!) Is full of your standard misunderstandings in a comedy series. It's about a squid girl (yes, squid girl) trying to take over the world... and failing. Not only am I not sure if this series is going anywhere, I find myself tempted to facepalm at least once per episode.
It's usually worth a few laughs though.

I'm probably forgetting a series or two, but these are the ones I thought were worth mentioning. Overall, nothing really awesome this season, but entertaining shows nonetheless.

I'd just like to say, that "Grand Master Angler" is annoying. It takes up an entire line Smiley: frown

I get the distinct feeling that the DVD release will show much more during the transformations. And I, for one, appreciate the idea.

One of the better shows I found this seasons is Bakuman. It's about a couple of high school students wanting to become manga artists. I found it interesting because every so often, the main character will take a minute to explain processes involved in creating manga.

I wanted Samurai Girls to be good. The animation is amazing in my opinion... but its boring storyline just keeps dragging it down.

If you're not already, be sure to watch Arakwa Under the Bridge x Bridge (season 2). It's just as good as the first. If you don't know what it's about... watch it.

The last show I'll mention this seasons is The World God Only Knows. It is about a social inept, girl-game obsessed loser who gets forced into hitting on women in the real world. The plot sounds kind of lame, but I found it occasionally has a hint of overall cleverness to how the main character accomplishes his goals. I doubt this show will ever amount to anything, but as it is right now, I think it's got some potential.

Oh... and I can't forget to mention the Iron Man anime
... don't watch it.

I've watched the first few episodes of most of the anime this season and I'll have to agree that nothing else really stuck out other than what has already been mentioned.

Oh, I forgot about Star Driver. It's sitting at a [2/10] for me, but my room mates insist on watching something horrible every week.

I guess this FABULOUS show makes everything else seem great in comparison?

Not sure how the anime will pan out, but the manga is a hoot. I anxiously await each weekly update. Alas, it's too short -only around 18 pages per chapter (although over 100 chapters are out).

I can't believe I forgot to mention another one of my favorites this season:

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru is about a small cafe that calls itself a maid cafe, except it's far from what you'd actually call a maid cafe. I'm not really sure if there's a plot yet... but the main character (who, by the way, is voiced by the same woman who did Maka from Soul Eater... I just can't get enough of that voice) makes this worth watching. Also, this show features my favorite opening and ending of this season.

I guess since I've mentioned just about every other show this season, I might as well bring attention to the remaining two that I've seen:

Forune Arterial is about a guy who goes to a new school, meets up with some really old friends, and finds out that a couple of the students are actually vampires. I thought the show seemed average, nothing really stuck out... I've seen the first 3 episodes and I doubt I'll watch many more.

Yosuga no Sora is the other. There is supposed to be some kind of mystery (according to the description), but after 3 episodes, it just seems like a typical romance... again, average, nothing really great.

After having only watched one epsiode, I'm thinking I'll likely be rating this as a 6 or so. Worth watching, but not great. Definitely has some moments of hilarity.

You put your standards too high with those ratings. That or you use your numbers differently to create a bigger gap between awesome and ******* awesome. Also, index is totally awesome. biribiriestmaiwaifu :3

Personally, I never understood how people could rate something before it's finished.

Or.. your standards are too low. Would you rather me rate stuff like Rog?

It's not like I can't change the rating halfway through, or at the end of a series.

My current ratings are first impressions and stuff.

Oh, and I forgot about Otome Youkai Zakuro. I've rated it a [6/10] so far, because nothing really stands out about it.
It's about half spirit girls working with the army to solve problems that humans have with spirits. Its about a 50/50 split on comedy and some kind of plot.
I'm not sure where the series is going.

So... the only thing he doesn't like is Bleach?

Also, I started the first disc of Kanon the other day. I like it. I think it's cute.

And you think kirby has high standards...

I still haven't gone through and rerated a bunch of that so it was lower.

Also I wish I could rate you up for that alas the room mates not being allowed to rate each other, but seriously Star Driver is pretty FABULOUS if you know what I mean.

Meh, with that sample size I can see how your **** is spread so it doesn't really irk me. I use 7 to represent "I don't regret using my time to watch this." 8 is for "This is pretty good." 9 is for "This is really good." 10 is for "omfg <3 amazingu." 6 is for "Meh.. it was slightly worth the watch.. but I won't be rewatching it." 2 is Saikano, I hated that I wasted my time watching that piece of ****.

This is the problem with number systems, different people use them differently, and personal interest matters a lot more than it should for just rating something.

After watching episode 5 of Ore no Imouto, I've bumped up my MAL rating to an [8/10].

I also lowered Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt to a [6/10]

And raised Zakuro to a [7/10].

Well, my standards definitely aren't very high, but i also just don't watch things if i don't think i'll like it. Why would i even start watching something that i even might rate under 5? If i think something deserves a 6, there's a decent chance i won't finish it. In the case of bleach, i actually liked the first few eps quite a bit, but it went down hill very fast. I also haven't been watching much anime for very long, so i still have tons of things that look really good, which i'll obviously watch before things i don't think look very good. My average ratings will obviously fall over time a bit (and already have a bit).

But yeah, my standards are relatively low.

The correct way to watch anime is to watch everything all the way through no matter how bad it is, and then just regret that you spent time watching it. :D (To date, the only anime I actually regret spending time watching is Saikano. Juden-chan I wanted to ragequit during the first, second, and third episodes (possibly the fourth too?); but I'm glad I finished.)
