...has finally ended.

It took a while and it certainly drove me crazy waiting for the final episode. I thought the final episodes was done really well and this has got to be one of the better series I've watched in a long time.

So yea, if you guys watched the first 14 episodes, time to finish it.

If this is the first you've ever heard of it, watch the series ...or at least the first episode or two.

My thread on this apparently failed anyway, and was olde, so this shall be the new bakemonogatari thread. Since it's finally over I'd recommend everybody who hasn't watched it watch it yet. Watch the blu-ray versions for what's released.

qIIq-THORA for 1-8, Coalgirls for 9-12 until THORA gets that done, and then whatever for 13-15. I'm not advocating bluray over broadcast just for resolution, there were a lot of scenes added and in some cases even complete animation overhauls.

I'm just watching it now. Whatever I was expecting, it wasn't this. I guess this is a slice-of-life with gods, ghosts and demons.

I LOVE how stylised the graphics are. This is a visual feast for anyone into contemporary design and composition. It's a showcase of Japanese art, with ancient, traditional, hyper-modern and international elements detectable. I especially loved the snake shrine episode graphics, with all the bamboo. I love the post-modernesque blank cells that get named, along with real-film cutting, different artwork style cutting, and use of subliminals at the start of episodes. I have to watch every episode with my finger hovering over the pause button.

Come to think of it, the short sub-stories are a great shot of Japanese traditional/historical culture injected into the present. Fun AND educational.

The female lead Hitagi Senjōgahara is gorgeous to watch, and very interesting. She may be an unsocialised b**ch, but at least she acknowledges that to Arargi. She says such outrageous things. The male lead Koyomi Araragi is handsome and appealing, if not visually in the same league. But his personality is wonderful. Who can go past someone with such a kind and generous heart?

I just watched episode 12, and that scene of the two of them together on the blanket watching the stars was unbelievably touching. The build up of the series, getting them to the point of finally opening up so sweetly to each other, while having serious cause to maintain their physical restraint with one another for the meantime was such well calculated scripting. I cried.

I might pick it up again at some point. From what I remember when it came out, I really liked the first episode then they lost me with the second. Can't remember exactly why I got turned off... something about some invisible crab.

If something invisible is turning you off, maybe you shouldn't be watching Ghost Stories. Smiley: tongue The style of the show really puts off a lot of people for some reason, but I personally love it.

Just finished it, very nice. I wasn't fond of the occasional pervert jokes, but apart from that, loved the "magic-realism", the constant technical beauty of the design work and the quiet but intense scripting. Not action packed, but not boring. I would like to see more seasons. I very much see Araragi as an Oshino in training.

First, if you still haven't seen Bakemonogatari and like anime, watch it.

Second is why I'm posting this... I was looking around on the internet and found this:

Quote:
A flyer included with NisiOisin's Nekomonogatari light novel has announced on Wednesday that production on a third NisiOisin anime project, Kizumonogatari, has been green-lit. This will be the latest NisiOisin work to be animated after Bakemonogatari and Katanagatari. The one-volume Kizumonogatari story is a prequel to the Bakemonogatari light novel series.

Not really sure when we'll start seeing episodes, but I'm excited to see more of this guy's work as I really enjoyed Bakemonogatari and Katanagatari.
Necro Warning: This post occurred more than thirty days after the prior, and may be a necropost.

I watched Bakemonogatari and loved it but drifted off when the last two episodes were so slow to be released, I've finished downloading it all in Hd now though (yay 20gb of data for 15 episodes oO) so I'll be having fun rewatching the show and seeing the ending.

Also, katanagatari is nice but not as good as bakemonogatari so far (4 episodes in, I'm slow with watching anime lately)

This was torture for me because I found out about the show before the last two were released. So I watched the others first only to find out that I had to wait months ;;

Yea, it's not nearly as good, but I thought the animation style was really interesting. I also liked that there was significant dialog to both Bakemonogatari and Katanagatari, something a lot of shows lack.

I found the dialog entertaining and fun in Bakemonogatari, in Katanagatari it is a little too much and the dialog isn't as strong but the artstyle is very cool.

Katanagatari is a very good animu. I watched 1-8 in my first sitting and 9-12 two days later in my second sitting. I gave it a 9/10, it's not bakemonogatari awesome, but it's still awesome nonetheless.

I followed Katanagatari until episode 5, then I dropped it. I might try watching it again sometime.

I liked the art style, but the dialogue did seem to drag on a bit longer than I care for.

It was one of the animes that I couldn't watch in bed mode. I needed to be able to pause and go back every now and then for a double take. Too many words? Meh- it's nice to see that much work put into media.

I need to buy myself a bluetooth dongle that's ps3 controller capable so I can use bed mode with everything.

Only watched the first four episodes so far, and thought they were good, but odd. The art style is... different. Crisp, but minimalist. As my girlfriend said, "It looks like they tried to be artistic, but it just comes off as they got lazy and didn't want to put anything extra in."

I might continue watching it, but so far I'm "meh, at least it's new" at best.

Your girlfriend would be off a bit there. They aren't trying to be artistic, it's simply their style of doing anime. It doesn't come off as they got lazy, they never finish stuff in time hah. The original broadcasts are missing a bunch of scenes compared to the blurays. And episodes 13-15 came out after the series ended, because they were like @#%^ 12 episodes we need 15.

Regardless, it's awesome, and all of sector 11 agrees.

I really liked the series a lot. I kinda semi tried to get into Katanagatari but it felt lackluster in the end. Also If you wanna check out the light novel pages translated instead of waiting god knows how long til the anime adaption.

http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Bakemonogatari#Translation

It has most of Bakamonogatari Translated and all of (cept 2 pages chapters) of Kizumonogatari. I haven't read them yet waiting on those last 2 chapters. Also from what i have seen they changed plans instead of a series it sounds like they are making a movie of Kizumonogatari instead.
