Trailer
Possibly the most testosterone overloaded film of all time incoming?

Cast
Sylvester Stallone
Jason Statham
Jet Li
Dolph Lundgren
Randy Couture
Mickey Rouke
Bruce Willis
Arnold Schwarzenegger (No, i am not kidding)

Looks to me like a massive tribute to the old action films of the later 70's and 80's. Seems to follow a pretty basic action film plot, a team of badasses sent on a mission to overthrow a dictator in some remote part of South America.
Not much else is really known about it but i've got my eye on it, it's got potential to either kick some serious *** or blow some serious *** depending on the direction.
Who else do you think might have a cameo? Rumors flying around that Jean Claude Van-Damme is going to have a cameo.

Hopefully Chow Yun-Fat and Jean Reno.

They asked me to be in it, but I had a schedule conflict.

Heard about this a couple months ago, and I've been looking forward to it ever since! Seems almost like some action-film-fanboy's wet dream... :)

You can add Stone-Cold Steve Austin to the list. At least, I think I remember seeing him in a trailer before Kick-***...

I heard Van Damme was doing a new Universal Soldier movie or something, and turned down a part in Expendables. Not like it really matters, with pretty much every action star from the last 20 years in it already.

It's funny how even the big studios copy-cat each other. This summer has three movies (that I'm aware of) with similar themes of "old military guys form an elite team and blow a lot of sh*t up": The Losers, A-Team, and Expendables. Not sure about Losers, but A-Team and Expendables just might be good... :)

Van Damme was awesome in JCVD. Seriously, it surprised the hell out of me.

So, I have an awesome Girlfriend. She is so awesome, that she scored free tickets to an advanced screening of The Expendables this evening. So excited, was I, that I actually got up early for me on a work night (4:30pm instead of 8pm.) to catch it.

I was not disappointed.

The Expendables is not a "great" movie, but it is a good one. Sure, it's a little low on plot & character development, but that's not why you want to see it. You want to see it because all the action heroes & villains of yesteryear are getting together for one last hurrah. Yes, the nostalgia factor is high, but that's not why it was good. It was good because at no point does it ever take itself too seriously. Because of this, with the exception of any scene where Sly Stallone "runs", you're not laughing AT the movie, but with it. It's genuinely funny in parts, especially the scene with Stallone, Schwarzenegger, & Bruce Willis.

The action scenes, of course, are fairly well done. There're even a couple of innovative scenes (A fight scene with Li & Statham vs. one of the bad guys' henchmen has an excellent coup det grais & there's a pretty innovative scene with a plane). I noticed little to no CGI in the movie & the stunts were also pretty good.

It was an enjoyable movie from start to finish. It never dragged & held my attention from beginning to end. Stallone did a good job with it (Like I think he did a good job with the last Rambo & Rockie flicks. Sure, they weren't great, but they were both surprisingly good!).

My girlfriend also liked it, so you don't need a ***** to enjoy it either.

I'd watch this movie if it only had one of those people in it. The fact that they're all in it just means I have to see it.

When I first head this movie was going into pre-production, I was scouring the casting calls to see if there was any part that I could shove Charmaine into an audition for. There wasn't Smiley: frown but I so wish there was a part for Charmaine a la Hit Girl.

She could be village hostage #8.

Btw Thumb, I know that you want your daughter to become an actor and I understand you want the best for her, but the way you typed your post made me think of those beauty pageant mothers who force their kids into every on that they find.

Yeah, had me cringing for a moment there. However, since Thumb mentioned Hit Girl, I'm guessing she's late *******, early teen. Which would be old enough for her to express her own wishes.

Can't stand parents who project their sh*t onto their kids. Saw a boy at the mall earlier today. He couldn't have been more than four or five years old. Ripped jeans, silver chain necklace, mohawk and pierced ears. Made me want to smack around his mom and dad a bit.

Also, I saw a documentary about "upcoming" child celebrities. One couple basically toured the world with their daughter, getting her minor roles in various movies. During the interview, the interviewer asks them if the traveling isn't stressful for their daughter, to which the mom replies that it is, but it's what their daughter wants. The interviewer asks them how they know that when she's not old enough to talk yet. The mom sort of pauses, then says that they know it because her face lights up every time she's on the set.

Smiley: facepalm

The kid's a baby. Give her an ice cream and her face would light up too. Doesn't mean she wants to own an ice cream factory, though.

Anyway, sorry for the ranty derail.

I generally let Charmaine pick and choose the parts that she wants to do. And she's a lot more vigilant about keeping an eye out on the casting calls than I am. She's 11 now and has been doing this since she was about 7. I've posted about some of the things that she has done as well as why we have walked away from other offers.

But getting a part in The Expendables probably would have fulfilled a few dream parts for her:

Kicking the crap out of someone.
Blowing something up.
Shooting a gun.
Probably some swear words.

But when I used the word "shove" in my post, I meant it in a joking way. For most movies that get a buzz in pre-production, you literally have to shove people out of the way to get a part.
