He's "exploring the possibilities" by "asking questions."

Hey, I don't disagree. He should have been in the hospital and in Canada he would have been but the fear of the potential financial burden led to his death.
How do you blame the system for someone's irrational fear? Smiley: dubious

Our health care system is messed up, but this one isn't Obamacare's fault. Blame is better directed at the political parties and the fear-mongering that leads to people making poor decisions, or the person that bought into the propaganda without doing some basic fact-checking. A simple call to the insurance company would have sorted it out. It's like sticking your head in the sand and then complaining that you know the wave was coming.

I think they were feeling the fear because of the impending doom of Obamacare because Republicans, not Obamacare itself.

I don't. The fear is due to your retarded health care arguments (you as in your country).

Also, Gbaji's weird world of foreign healthcare just doesn't exist. Dude needs to travel more. Universal health care is fantastic, and we don't usually have to go to the hospital for the flu because we already took care of it before it got bad, because we don't have to choose between seeing the doctor and groceries.

He can't even get domestic health care correct.

Times like this it's probably worth pointing out that we're a country founded by traders and businessmen, with laws written by traders and businessmen, that has a long history of acting in the best interests of traders and businessmen, and is continuing to act in the best interests of traders and businessmen to this day.

Makes the whole fiasco seem a whole lot less surprising at least.

Why does the GOP plan have an age based tax credit anyway? Shouldn't it just be a flat ~3k tax credit based on their ideology?

Or better yet, just straight tax decrease not contingent on insurance purchase and let the free market sort out the wicked from the just.

Ideally it's supposed to encourage younger healthier people to enroll by decreasing the amount they have to pay into the pot (can be as low as 20% of the old people's cost instead of 33% under the Democratic plan). Realistically though, it could very easily just leave old people with more expensive insurance bills, and not do much to lower rates.

The more you use it the more you pay! The other way sticks of socialism. Smiley: disappointed

Not the 3:1 ratio changing to 5:1, I'm talking about the age based subsidies.

I'd sort of like to hear Gbaji or maybe a moderate consv. voice as long as it's not thinly veiled "spoils system, bro".

I'd sort of like to stick silverware in a microwave, but I happen to know the consequences.

Because you're likely going to be making old people's insurance higher, and adding extra burdens to the elderly is generally unpopular? This is what the subsidies are supposed to offset right?

Or am I reading into that wrong?

Which is why God gave other people microwaves. You can be amused without ruining your own. Smiley: nod

The silverware interferes with the spying so the microwave tries to kill it with fire.

Oh wait. Um... That's 28k more deaths than the previous year. WTF is up with the UK? I'm reading like 500k people dying from the flu each year

Are you actually retarded?

Not normally, no. In this case, I totally misread the article. Which is why I asked if I was reading it correctly. My "this can't be right" radar was blaring, but for some reason I had a mental block when reading that article and kept reading it as though they were listing off just flu related deaths. Um... Whatever.

Quote:
The article is "NUMBER OF DEATHS IN ENGLAND AND WALES HITS 12 YEAR HIGH", and the statistics you're talking about refer to total deaths. Just because flu is mentioned as a possible contributing cause for the increase doesn't mean that all further death statistics are flu related deaths.

Yeah. I misread it. To be fair though, when someone writes about a giant increase in deaths, and spends the entire article talking about how a really bad flu season is to blame for that increase, and how high the death toll is, and rattles off a bunch of really big numbers, it's reasonable for someone to think you're actually blaming those increased deaths on the flu. Re-reading it, the article never actually states how many extra people died from the flu, but states repeatedly that it's "many" (is that "most", "some", "a few"?). It mentioned "flu and dementia", then turns around and talks about how dementia causes people to not take care of themselves as well, making them more vulnerable to the flu.

I kinda get the impression someone really really really wants more funding for flu research or something.

Quote:
How is your reading comprehension so bad? And, even so, how could you believe for a second half a million die of flu every year in a country the UK's size?

I didn't. Hence my questioning if I was reading it correctly.

Apologise to me right now for being so stupid in my presence.

Yeah. Like that is going to happen. Smiley: tongue
