Out of all the facets of states' rights, the EC ranks somewhere down near the bottom in terms of importance. Disenfranchising people with the excuse of "states rights" strikes me as remarkably wrong. Not that it would be the first or last time in our nation's history that we've used that excuse for the same ends.

The senate is the bastion of federal power for states; each state gets 2 votes, regardless of how large or small. This does not need to be duplicated in every body and vote.

That wasn't a majority of groups though. That was two groups with half of one group pretending to be special snowflakes from each other. One group wants vegetable, the other pepperoni. After trying to read a few FB posts from pro Trump groups, I actually think the whole EC debate has gone from Popular vote verses the rights of small population states to be more about people who live in states were they value Education over those states were having a Good education is consider elitist.

Look at which states have historically have the best colleges and universities in them and how they voted. So we now have the EC doing the opposite of what the founding fathers wanted it to defend us against..

I'm also a college drop out. Then why get a BFA in drawing, if it only will get me a job asking people if they want fries with their order. While in college, I used to tell people I was studying to become a starving artist.

But then I also read elitist books and newspapers and watch PBS's Washington D.C. station every night.

No, I just check my copy of the Oxford Universal Dictionary, that I inherited my my grandparents. I was hoping to also inherited their OED, but I think my uncle got it.

I've yet to find anyone who had a higher reading score then I had in 9th grade.

I just finish reading this and now more then ever feel that we need the Electoral College, but it also must live up to why it was created. We as Americans tend to forget that we are a Republic and the dangers of Democracy. Sadly we have to go to the writings of the Founding Fathers to try to understand why they gave us our system of government,so much isn't writ down in our Constitution in a way we can say here are why we do things the way we do.

I plan to go back and read the Federalist Papers, as soon as I''m bck on my feet and can get to the library. Sure I can send Jonwin to the library to get books for me, but when I am doing research I prefer to be able to get up and check documents as they are sited or I find myself needing more information. Internet Research just isn't enough for a bibliophile like me.

What exactly is it that you find compelling about the article? This is the cosmological argument fallacy. You want electors to keep the people in check, but who keeps the electors in check? And if Trump is taken as premise to be bad result, then the EC is not the solution to such problems, but the source of them.

So what exactly about me pointing out that her 2 million vote lead can be seen as almost exclusively from a 3.5 million vote lead in a single State, is inconsistent with my previous positions against single, large, populous States being able to run the election based on popular vote alone?

I mean, you may disagree with me, fine, but I don't see this statement as being inconsistent.

Because no one can win with California alone in a pure popular vote based on current population allocation, so you're wrong.

You're also wrong because again the states don't matter at all. only the electors do. The entire U.S. population can vote for Trump while Clinton could still be the legitimate PotUS, and you would have to support that outcome.
