I'm assuming that AB stands for Alberta.

Yes. They've been PC for over 40 years, 44 I think is the number. Now they've gone far left.

Well, far left may be an exaggeration. They voted for the NDP, which are left of the Conservatives, but from what I've read of the election, the NDP were basically running with a PC platform from the 70s or 80s.

I could be wrong, I'm not from Alberta and didn't care about it that much.

I'm not surprised. We were mad at the PCs; we still are. Nothing shows a Government that you're mad like voting them out of office in spectacular fashion. The PC leader quit politics before all of the votes were counted so that's probably the end of that option on the ballot.

Lots of people are afraid of the NDP because we watched them destroy the economy of our neighbors in British Columbia. I'm not so pessimistic, but I will be watching them closely like many others. This is their shot and if they blow it they'll likely be gone in the next election.

PC = Progressive Conservatives, they're not very progressive..

Yes, it reeks of an "only real option" vote. Conservatives have killed the economy for anyone not making 6 figures+. The oil boom made living expenses in AB skyrocket and now oil has dropped so people aren't making enough to keep up, as such people aren't in a forgiving mood and are looking for someone to blame. Liberals are not even an option in AB. Not sure about.."Wild Rose"?

NDP basically said "we'll give you all of the things you can no longer afford but really really need now that the PCs have ruined your livelyhood" from the sounds of it.

I wouldn't say that. Most people I know don't make 6 figures+ and we live very comfortably.

The Wild Rose are the right wing alternative to the PCs. They were decimated when their leader joined the PCs only months before the election, but voters got their revenge on her too. She didn't even win the nomination for her seat and then we gave her former party the most seats they've ever had. If I had to guess I'd say that they're the Government in waiting if the NDP ***** up.

The problem with the PCs is that they fell into the roller coaster economy of boom/bust oil, then they made the mistake of calling an election in a bust time. They were overconfident after what they did to the WR and it cost them. Most of their campaigning was based on fear but in reality Albertans were more afraid of seeing the PCs in power again than the NDP.

That was my take on it in a nutshell. The boom went bust now everyone blames the government. Tis the typical way of things and stuff. It's one of those thing you started assuming was coming in the next election.
