Might be, I just wouldn't expect it like I would should I go to Chicago or Vegas.

I'd expect areas with the immigrant population to have more authentic food than a place like Vegas. Unless Vegas is the place where that immigrant population decided to take root. What immigrant populations took root in Vegas, besides hookers and blow?

Does Vegas have authentic anything?

They very well might, I've only been once and didn't stray much beyond the buffet.

I assume Vegas has plenty of Hispanics. But then traveling to Vegas for Mexican food seems like a waste of airfare.

Mormons. Dovetails well with the "who can we get to run our gambling drinking ***** store?" labor market there. Seriously, though, lousy with Mormons. Their cuisine tends towards things made from a 1 year supply of dry and canned goods, so a lot of casseroles and the like. When I spent a lot of time there, the big local cuisine scene was most Korean BBQ, so I assume there are a lot of Koreans around, although I don't recall noticing that outside of casinos.

I've heard that those Mormons eat some salty-ass vanilla ice cream Smiley: schooled

Edit: I suppose it's not as though we don't have an internet. Asians make up 6% of the Las Vegas population. On the other hand, businesses there also cater largely to tourists so if you had a lot of Koreans visiting you might be more inclined to serve their cuisine. I'm far too disinterested to try and find out what the tourism demographics of Las Vegas are.

Trying to figure out why anyone would be bothered by someone else sitting straight at a theater, when Nexa commented that you may be a tiny person who can't see over their heads. Is that it?

No. It's because I'm trying not to block the view of the person behind me? So, knowing that I'm taller than most people and can easily block the view of a person who can't sit up high enough to see over/around my head, I tend to sit as low in my seat as possible. This is obviously dependent on the person in front of me doing the same. A trend I've noticed is that tall men tend to do the same thing I do. It's usually semi-tall women (like say 5'8" or so) that sit ramrod straight in their seats. They're just short enough to not think about how they're blocking the view of others, but just tall enough that this causes the person behind them to have to sit up higher in order to see past them.

It's funny because just a week ago, I had this exact situation come up. I'm at the youth ballet watching my niece do her first on pointe performance. When I first arrived, the seats immediately in front of me were empty. A few minutes into the show, the people with tickets for those seats arrived and sat down. The woman in front of me was in that "not too tall but not short" category and proceeded to quite obviously sit as high as she could. And prop her sunglasses on the top of her head to boot. I had to adjust my sitting position to be able to see. As it happened, the seat next to me was empty (I was one space away from the aisle). After intermission, the woman seated behind me asked if she could sit in the seat next to me because "you're tall". Point being that had the woman in front of me not sat the way she did, I would not have had to sit up as high as I was (and I was still nowhere near sitting all the way up), and the woman behind me (who was like 5'2 or so) could have seen the show.

Heaven forbid we spend any time at all thinking about how our actions affect others around us.

I go to Movie Theatres with proper seating where unless someone is 7 feet tall, they're not blocking your view. You should try moving to an area where they've modernized their seating.

Uh... I don't control where they do their performances, and I don't think they can modernize this much.

I don't think that's a movie theater.

For all I know, it could show movies. I'm not about to pretend to be an expert in San Diego theaters

I just assume they'd go to the theater next door that is more accommodating and that the one where my head is in their way shuts down due to lack of business. Are you implying that isn't how it works?

Rather go out with friends and then see the movie to make a night out of it instead of condensing the whole excursion.

That's literally how those places work. You eat, and then they move the tables so you can recline and turn down the lights. Drinking is optional throughout.

Drinking is never optional.

Also, I have literally never been in a cinema where anyone under 8 feet could conceivably block my view. Even in the tiny theatre in my hometown, it's not a problem.

Me either, but you know, Gbaji lives in California, where dozens of buildings were built prior to 1950! Times were different then.

When I was in college there was a free advanced screening of Red Dragon. It was shown in one of the lecture halls. So the seating was very make shift and the floor slope was not appropriate for theater viewing. When the few subtitle scenes popped up you couldn't see the bottom of the screen so everyone in the audience sat up to try and look above the head of the person in front of them, who was also sitting up to look over the person in front of them, so on and so forth.

My local theater is pretty close at times. If I am relaxing in the chair and the person in front of me is tall and sitting up straight it does block the view of the bottom edge.

I usually attempt to sit somewhere dead center of the theater. Seems to be the best angle for me. Front is always looking up. Back is ok, but a bit noises as people tend to gravitate there a lot.
