Huh. I just looked and I guess it's more of a British English thing than an American English construction. So it's not technically wrong but I dunno how it got in there.

Possessive form of "I have" doesn't seem unusual to me.

The word unusual however has 3 'u's. Must be English.

It's not the possessive form of "I have" that is unusual. It's the contraction used when it was.

"I have a garage."
"I've a garage."
Which apparently should read "I've got a garage."

On a topic related note... it is -5 degrees outside and I have 6 inches of snow and a bit more of plowed up garbage from the road in my driveway. I don't want to go outside and plow, it's too damn cold.

Yes, i we all read the same thing. Joph used the contracted from of 'I have' therefore that is what I was talking about. JFC, Do I really need to explain this to you?

It is a different usage than the past tense form of the contraction "I've". Yet, it is proper and in my experience it's not that unusual.

Can you put me on ignore?

Well, to be fair, it wasn't possessive. Because Jophiel is way too cool for that ****.

If Joph wasn't using the term 'i have' in a possessive manner, then I am indeed way too stupid for this forum.

Tirithrr had my number all along.

Had he wrote out "I have a garage" it'd be right, not unusual, and the possessive form of "I have". The contraction was what people found strange, not the possessive.

Well... he was saying he owns a garage, so it's possessive in that sense, sure. Just not grammatically possessive, like "Joph's garage won't open with all the snow piled up."

I've seen it before, I've heard it before, and I've used it before. I've no idea why some find it unusual, although I've an inkling it may just be a regional thing.

Speaking of regional, we're having pizza for lunch in the office today. Real pizza. Not that cheese and tomato pot pie stuff you get outside the New York City region.

I've had NY pizza a few times and quite honestly, I have no ******* idea why you guys think its special as it's quite "meh".

I can only assume when you twats leave NY you order from some **** hole like Papa John's or the like. Stop doing that and order a real pizza and you'll find what you have in NY is rather *****.

I think Uglysasquatch has it right.

95% of Chicago area pizza looks like this, not like this. Both are good but deep dish is considerably harder to place out at a party or eat on the couch while watching a movie.

Lol. Yeah. I'm sure the folks living in gang ridden ghettos say the same thing about both of us. Just a matter of perspective, isn't it?

Walk over to El Cajon and let us know.
