Quote:
Nursery school staff and registered childminders must report toddlers at risk of becoming terrorists, under counter-terrorism measures proposed by the Government.

The directive is contained in a 39-page consultation document issued by the Home Office in a bid to bolster its Prevent anti-terrorism plan.

Critics said the idea was “unworkable” and “heavy-handed”, and accused the Government of treating teachers and carers as “spies”.

The document accompanies the Counter-Terrorism and Security Bill, currently before parliament. It identifies nurseries and early years childcare providers, along with schools and universities, as having a duty “to prevent people being drawn into terrorism”.

The consultation paper adds: “Senior management and governors should make sure that staff have training that gives them the knowledge and confidence to identify children at risk of being drawn into terrorism and challenge extremist ideas which can be used to legitimise terrorism and are shared by terrorist groups.
I have no words. If they were talking preteens or older, it would be fine. But honestly, how do you tell terrorist toddlers from non-terrorist -

Sorry, couldn't finish that statement with a straight face. All toddlers are terrorists. Smiley: tongue

They spend way more time on the monkey bars. And have beards.

I'm gonna go out on a crazy limb here and assume that the objective is to noodle out the terrorist leaning parents by observing the behavior of their children who are old enough to repeat ideas leaned at home, but not old enough to conceal such things from outsiders. Or they really think the toddlers will be strapping on explosive Hello Kitty backpacks any day now or something. Anything is possible, I suppose.

They're using younger and younger kids for bombings. The other day I think it was a ten year old girl who was detonated in Nigeria. So, despite your heavy-handed attempt at Smash-style sarcasm you may inadvertently be right.

does that count for the other thread?

Sounds pretty reasonable, really. If a 4 year old is continuously yelling "behead all infidels!" it's probably ok to follow up on that. Obviously the idea of "extremist ideas" is a little thought policy, but it's the UK. The standard of individual freedom isn't the same as the US. The law there applies equally to black folks, for instance.

To make a long story short, I don't take any responsibility for anything I post here. It's not news, it's not truth, it's not serious. It's parody. It's satire. It's bitter. It's angsty. Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Well I for one feel better knowing the front line of terrorist defense is the hands of our incredibly capable and well trained daycare providers.
