It's my baby boys birthday today. He's 26!! Did you know a girl could get pregnant at 3? I was going to take him to see Hercules this weekend. He really wanted to see it. It left our theater though, so I guess it will be TMNT's. (yay!)

Also, I've got to make relish, blackberry jelly, chokecherry jam and maybe more zucchini bread this weekend.

No big plans but I'm going to have to take Joph Jr out behind the wheel for the first time this weekend. He just started sophomore year and has Driver's Ed this semester. I thought it wasn't until never semester but nope.

Yeesh.

Shazzbot. That's a big step! Good luck with that.

I've been promised Thai food tomorrow night. Not take-out, either, actually dressing up and going out.

Mmm, Thai food.

Not really weekend but going to a theme park with my little brother on Monday, we don't have a lot in common otherwise so that'll be fun.

I didn't think the actual initial driving instruction was too painful. Driving is pretty easy to master.

Letting them take the car for the first few times on their own though is tough on the nerves.

Also, I tried to teach my kid to drive a stick-shift after he'd already been driving (an automatic) for a couple years. That was infuriating...and ultimately unsuccessful.

My mother just couldn't handle it and flatly refused to take my sister and I for practice. As a result, the only behind the wheel experience I received was during class. We only had one day a week of behind the wheel and it was split between four of us so each week was painfully embarrassing as I had all of 15 minutes practice in the past week versus the other students. I did pass the class (I assume it was virtually impossible not to short of intentionally sabotaging yourself) and eventually my mother just coughed up for private lessons. Two sessions of that and the instructor said I was good to go.

Also I'd like to point out that THIS child is going to be driving OMGWTFRAGEATTHEPASSAGEOFTIME

This weekend is mostly relaxing at home, with a game of golf with my brother-in-law at one point. They're fairly newly married, so it's nice to get to know him better. Also I haven't golfed enough this year, so that'll be nice.

Is it an apartment?

If it takes you more than an hour or so to clean an apartment, I have to worry about you people and what you've done to the place.

It's supposed to be sunny, I want to enjoy the sun. But I also don't want to be hot. I'll try to get out early in the morning and do something with the kids, then hide in the AC all afternoon and play video games. Smiley: thumbsup

We're maybe going to the High Museum on Sunday - they have a prototype cars exhibit a friend wants to see, and there's enough cool upcoming exhibits to warrant renewing our membership.

Other than that I am going to simply enjoy not stressing out about work for a few days.

Some of it will be going out west with me. Do you think jelly is considered a liquid by the NTSB?

I was informed 2 days ago by the wonderful local public works department that the main road out of where I live will be closed this entire weekend, the detour road they were planning on using will be running through a last minute "chip seal" project that involves covering the entire road in sticky oil and gravel and will be also closed most of the weekend, and the only other possible route out of here will be in use by a 400 person bike race half the weekend. So basically I'm going to be trapped in my house all weekend. I've got today off though so I'll head into town and grab movies and books and supplies and whatnot. Also plenty of 3d printing to do now that the big machine is fixed. You can see the latest design project here if you are curious: http://forum.lulzbot.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=654&start=10#p5353

I always have mineral oil for my butcher block table and cutting board anyway. Thanks for the tip, I didn't know this.

4 bedroom house. We have a lawn. We shouldn't have a lawn, but the grass doesn't give a crap that the yard is supposed to be all rocks. Additionally, we've vacuumed maybe three times since we moved in. And if we don't count cleaning out my computer, dusting happens once every six months. Basically, we're lazy bachelors. Kitchen is fairly clean, though, and we don't leave food lying around or anything.

Also, since writing that stuff earlier, I think I hurt my back pulling out grass and weeds. And we've run out of trash can. Smiley: motz

Sounds like The Frathouse I lived in - four guys in their twenties with some rather hefty vices.

My weekend is pretty full. Saturday is a "reunion" of my high school's "Dirt Merchants" - the grunge/metal/smoker group that I was only tangentially involved in, though since school I've stayed friends with the couple that is organizing the barbecue. It's more just an excuse to take the family to that park this weekend. Sunday, we pick up my wife's brother and then head upstate to their sister's place for another cookout.
