Anyone signing up for the new Sprint Framily deal? I have a framily and am looking for more people to join to compound the discount.

I'd join your framily. I really am thinking about getting my very own first cell phone.

But Sprint hates Maine.

First of all, don't do that, Sprint sucks. The network is terrible. This plan also sucks.

Buy an unlocked phone, that will have all the benefits of an unlocked phone and the $30 a month Tmobile "wal-mart sim" plan. Buy a Nexus 5 for you, a Moto G for the kids, have unlocked no contract phones for less money for the phone, less money for the plans, more data, and a vastly better network. If you want a new phone, sell your unlocked phone that's not useless on any other network and buy a new one. If you hate the service, swap the sim for another carrier.

Or not. I realize you're already invested this, so you won't do any of that. But you should.

I looked into something like that. I don't think it really saves anything. Actually, no plan really saves anything, they all have them gamed to get you spending the same amount of money +/- some change. And Sprint's network is fine in Chicago.

It does, in fact. Quite a bit. Also, you're not locked into a ****** vendor crippled phone OS. Anyway, not super relevant, you'll be happy with this, probably, it's short money either way.

We had Sprint for a while. It really wasn't that good around here. T-Mobile has better reception. But we went with AT&T on their prepaid plan. They had their Windows phones on sale and I love those. One of these days I might get Straight Talk's sim and switch, but I can't find anyone using them in this area to see how the service is. I know they say they use the "big companies" towers, but a lot of the time that means Sprint's towers.

Got the Nexus 5 anyway so I'm good on that. Was tempted by the good reviews and smaller size of the Moto X, but I had a Motorola before that never got upgraded past Android 2.3, and Motorola has been down the tubes for a while.

I was smart enough to opt out of the "free samsung galaxy tab 3" they offered with signing up. A $170 device on Amazon that they require you to sign up for $180 worth of data plan to get for "free."
