I am looking to prune the database table for post ratings. This database is 2.17 GB in size which is causing issues using the rating system.

Right now there is 361,289 negative post ratings. There are 34,356,666 positive post ratings.

I can,

#1 The easiest route. Delete all post ratings and we can start from scratch again. Active posters can rate each other up until they are back to where they were.
#2 Easy route. Delete ratings from a certain date on back.
#3 Still easy. Delete all negative ratings however this won't clear enough out, we'll need to combine this with something else.
#4 Not as easy. Delete ratings for users that haven't posted in a certain amount of time. This will require some cross checking from the post database table.
#5 ? Suggestions.

Crazy, asking people to rate hundreds of thousands of times. That's literally carpal tunnel.

There's too few posters and activity for the ratings to be anything more than aesthetic. Tie forum titles and whatever "exclusive features" to number of posts instead, keep the custom titles.

As far as I know, I still don't have the ability to rate. I abused it a bit a few years ago. I really don't care which option is used. Whatever is easiest for you guys is fine by me.

Took that flag off your account, you can rate again. I'm sure you have learned your lesson several years later. Smiley: cool

I'll look into clearing out ratings for users that haven't posted in a few years. In the future I might work on a base amount of posts needed to even use the rating system for posts.

Right now, some forum titles are granted on the amount of posts and karma together.

>= 3.01 Karma and > 15 posts = Scholar
>= 3.66 Karma and > 50 posts = Sage
>= 4.31 Karma and > 100 posts = Guru

I might be able to add more based on just post count alone. I'll ask for feedback on that if I ever do add more.

I'm sure there's no self interest in that at all.
