I meant the beer law and not personally, my ancestors probably had to though because of the whole Napoleon thing.

I could hazard a guess that the archaic law originally came into play to appease the French Catholic Canadian Mainers. We have pretty many of them. Nice enough folks but rather impetuous.

I was going to try making syrup from my silver maples this year but the long winter had me worried about stressing them Smiley: frown

The long winter around here apparently made for a long sap season. Bumper crops of sap/syrup being reported by the locals.
