It's all in and put together. A quick power test seems to show it being good to go. Time to shut this one down and try installing windows. Wish me luck.

"The max power of the CPU is over 95w. Computer is shutting down."

Any suggestions?

I certainly thought I had ordered exactly what was there, but I did get one letter off. Got one of these instead somehow. As far as I can tell though, based on the Biostar website, they both recommend only using a 95w processor.

/sigh
So I read everything on that page(Which I did when suggesting it), then did a Google of the motherboard, Tiger direct Conveniently forgets to mention it doesnt support 125W CPU(the one you bought). Unfortunately this means your going to have to RMA the board. (Send it back and get another) If you call them up and explain the situation they should do this for free. Explain it doesnt say anything on their page about 95W or lower support.

Im looking to see if a Bios update will allow 125W CPUs. Gimme about 30 mins triple check my suggestion. To make sure its not going to be a problem. Im really sorry about suggesting it now, I would have been caught by the same thing if I was building a system. I'm actually a bit pissed at Tiger Direct atm for not listing it.

Ok I know this is a few more dollars but ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS

Its Micro ATX, so it will fit your case and I double checked the Website just to make sure it supports 125W. It lists the Phenom II X4 965, which is your processor.

I'm really sorry about the problems you had. I really am, if my financial issues weren't what they are atm I would send you the difference. I really feel bad, I made sure to read the motherboard page on Tigerdirects page and I didnt see any mention of it there. When you call Tiger Direct to get an RMA, explain to them that the motherboard you bought has no were listed on their site it doesn't support 125W CPU's. You may be able to get them to ship you the new one for the same price as the old one.

Don't worry about it. Mistakes happen. As long as they accept a return so I can get the other one, no harm done. And I can't really imagine they won't accept the return.

CPU came out with the fan and is stuck to it. Any suggestions? None of the pins are bent. Will it be fine?

Yeah that happens if your not super careful just pull the cpu off the thermal paste and put it back in its packaging. Just make sure tot to bend any pins. It happened a few times to me in the past an never had any issues. Did Tiger Direct RMA for you?

I just want to point out the amusing coincidence of this thread showing up on my Live feed and receiving an email from the World Bank about inheriting millions of dollars from Nigeria.

Its happened to my old board, the board just doesnt apply a ton of pressure to the pins to hold the CPU in place. Next time just twist the Fan left and right while pulling up very very softly.

I got a refund authorization. Apparently it's not their fault that their website doesn't list the 95w thing because it does note on an image on there that "95w recommended"*. No biggie, just have to pay for some shipping, which isn't gonna kill me.

*That's for the one I ended up getting on accident with a single letter difference. I couldn't find any such note on the one you actually recommended.

Edit: Cool. Came right off. Seemed stuck at first but a quick press sideways(on accident) and it slid right off.

Oh well, that sucks. I would have blown up at the "recommended" and been like My car recommends i use 10w40 oil but if i used 10w30 or 5w40 it would still work. Recommended =/= wont work with anything else.

Ohh well hopefully they are quick about it and you can have your new PC running by this weekend. BTW you play WoW? If so Add Bean#1570 Thats my battletag

This is why I never give people **** who would rather pay a site like iBuyPower to build the system for them to spec. Despite double checking all of your i's and t's and it being no one's fault, sometimes stuff just pops up that some people would rather pay the extra to not deal with. Thankfully this one was fairly easy to troubleshoot.

Yeah. I probably would have if they had denied my refund. Life's too short to worry about the cost of the shipping.

And I haven't been playing WoW for a while, kinda half-assed it through Cata and quit a bit before Pandaria. But you can add me on Steam or the PSN if you're on there. I should be under the same name as here for both. When I get around to getting SC2, I'll add you then if I remember(may be a month or two).

Yeah. I went to the other end of the extreme and got a Dell last time I got a computer because at the time my tolerance was pretty low. I've been sleeping enough lately that I can deal with a bit more.

Okay, so I hadn't expected shipping to cost that much. That'll teach me to go to the UPS Store.

Old comp ran the FFXIV benchmark in the low 2200s. This one? 8052. Smiley: jawdrop

And no worries. It's done and awesome. Smiley: grin

Last weekend I ended up going through and doing my new periodic gaming/retail account clean up. I went through and decided to do my old Playonline account, finally transferred it over to my SE Account, even though I cancelled the subscription to FFXI over 3 years ago.

While doing this, I applied for the FFXIV ARR beta... I'm very tempted to try it out.
