I'm looking at replacing the hard drive in my home pc, the existing drive is a 500 GB SATAII 3 GB/s 7200 rpm.

I've never replaced a hard drive before.

My machine is 6 years old, and it doesn't appear I can install a SSD in it, so just a regular HDD will have to suffice.

Newegg has this 1 TB unit on sale for $52, but will it work ? It says SATA, no mention of II or III etc, whats the differences?

Should be fine, drive will be limited to SATA-II speeds.
