I mean, they have a tough job, because that forum is having a weird existential crisis. Though I think it's also fair to note that FFXI probably brought them a lot of revenue, and they've gone further with FFXIV in creating a parser (which has some kind of weird, "hush hush, it's okay to use it as long as we don't talk about it" stance from Square Enix).
On the one hand, pretty much every thread is negative. On the other hand, if you criticize some aspect of the game, you're likely to get jumped on. And god forbid you introduce some kind of "It would be cool if someday they..." post.
The best way I can describe it is that you had the elitist FFXI players who migrated over and formed their own clique, and aggressively kept anyone else out of it. So then all the new posters sort of coalesced into an opposing clique. And they all disagree with each other on principle, regardless of the what they're actually saying. So it's half circle-jerk, half karma camping...
At least, that's the impression I get.
