Lmao. I am already at 44 hours and I am level 15. You must have hit the main quest hard. I kind of leave the game open some while I tool around the house in between quests though. I did get hosed on "Get Shorty" tonight finished it with no XP. But /shrug after looking it up that one seems to be consistent for not giving XP. Not in a hurry I went back and boned Kiera just because I had put that off (50 XP! rofl). Now I am doing some other side quests, gonna do Vernan Roche side as quest I always liked Ves.

Level 17. So I think I just kinda like experimenting and respecing. My Griffin set and Quen build was certainly mighty and worked great, Heal on demand so strong you don't really need potions anymore. But I could not lay off collecting the full Feline set and respecing to mostly red with just 3 points in quen. Whirl is spiffy, definitely like it. And I farmed some more reds so I have a grip of attack power now. Sword DPS is the highest it's been for me, and well that's pretty cool. I think their are many many viable builds but I like that I can mess around with them for a mere 1k gold. (Not that much for me atm)

Gonna go after a few more places of power in Velen then head to Skellig soon since I finished the main quest in Novigrad now.

Witcher 3 Fixes Money Exploit By Adding Cow Army

It used to be easy to earn money in The Witcher 3 by killing cows over and over again. The game’s most recent patch, however, has a clever way of stopping you from exploiting the world’s bovine.

Patch 1.05, which just went live for PC players, brings with it many important changes, including a bigger text size for the game’s interface, a host of quest fixes, and more. The full patch notes are right here. What caught my eye, though, was this:

Deploys the Bovine Defense Force Initiative

What the hell?!

It didn’t take me long to figure out his was a way of addressing the game’s easy money exploit.

Here’s how the exploit worked: kill some cows, collect their hides, meditate for an hour, and the cows quickly spawn back into the world. The hides were worth a pretty penny, so it didn’t take long to completely break The Witcher 3’s economy. Given that it otherwise takes dozens of hours to build up a decent amount of money in the game, it’s not a surprise CD Projekt RED would stamp this out.

Instead of removing cows from the world or reducing the price of hides, however, they summon an incredibly difficult enemy assuredly going to kill anyone but the most high-level Witcher 3 players.

18 and completed the ?'s of Velen pretty much. Gonna do a couple follow up quests like Triss and head to Skellig. Game just seems to get better and better. It really is the brightest Witch of it's age.

Roach is magical. Take a boat to Skellige get attacked by pirates. Wash up on shore. Roach is there... waiting. Who is the real Witcher?

Speaking of small islands in the middle of nowhere. I was wondering around, clearing some question marks when I ran into a treasure guarded my an Archgriffen. It had a red skull over it's head, but I saved and went for it anyway. I didn't go in prepared, so the first try I got close, but died. The second attempt, I went in using the right oil and bombs and wiped the floor with it. I go for the treasure, and it's one of those stupid notes with a key. I read the note and flag the quest (it turns out it's level 48) and go get the goods. It's a crappy saddle and some level 15 gear. I did this as at level 20. So not only should I not have won that fight, but the rewards should have been a hell of a lot better.

Edit:

Hmm, I think there is a bug in the last patch that's causing all of my stats to be ten times higher than they should be. Right now, if my stats on the inventory screen are to be believed, I've got:

DPS - Silver Sword 7807
DPS - Steel Sword 5099
Armor - 224 (this one seems correct)
Sign Intensity - +1034%
Vitality - 24600/24600

I suppose that explains how I was able to kill that Archgriffin.

Yeah, if you talked to the chick next to the dwarf smith in the Baron's keep, she goes on about Skellig's jarls and whatnot.

Stuff around my level I am. I fought a level 34 Basilisk out by Bald Mountain last night, and it took a few hits to kill it. I was doing 4500-5000 damage a swing...

NexusMod has some DLL files that supposedly help increase AMD card frame rates if anyone is using a Radeon card and wants to give it a whirl. I "installed" them, i.e. dropped them into the correct folder, and think they may have added a few FPS but I'm to quite sure.

I also modded to increase merchant gold and increase my carry limit to 120 because I'm lazy.

Level 14, rocking my Kitty-Cat armor and swords and wandering about before I muster the enthusiasm to follow more quest NPCs around Novigraad (or however its spelled)

And finished. 93 hours of great fun. Was level 34 when I finished, had master crafted Griffon armor and swords. Focused mostly on Yrden and Quen. Lightning Yrden trap + Dot Yrden trap x2 at max level really controls the battlefield at 230% signs boost. All that is natural no dimetritium nonsense or whatnot. I also took 5/5 in light and heavy 1st tier and less damage from dodging so I could fill a full greater red mutagen tier. Rest were full blue tiers minus the medium armor standalone.

Was mostly OP for a while after 30 until I got to a few of the final boss fights. Gave me a decent challenge those. Stayed patient and knocked um out.

THE STORY. Is ******* fantastic. Well worth sticking through. Only point where weariness kicked in was Novigrad because its so running around no combat at times. Those stories are critical to the fate of the whole thing though. Once I got to Skellige the game just became super great again.

I'll just jump on the bandwagon and gush now. GOTY easy.

Yeah, I got burned out in Novigrad where I had like three plot/quest paths I needed to worry about and didn't give a damn about any of them. I'll get back to it sooner or later, I guess.

You know for some people Novigrad was their favorite area? I don't get it but /shrug. Velen and Skellige were way cooler.

I started a new character... I might even play gwent this time! My goal is to do more wandering about and not give a F if I am at the right level for the main story. I know what happens now so I just want to cruise around and be Witchery.

Also I am thinking of going heavy strikes with a bit of alchemy playing on blood and broken bones. I kinda liked the Ursine sets looks but because I got addicted to the OP signs I never bothered to collect it.

*Edit: Also think I will pick Triss. Yen is kind of a frosty box anyway. Still miss Shani though my OG Witcher girl.

Today's patch is amazing! If you fell off give it another try. Better movement, storage, inventory.

I'm on my second playthrough now in Skellige at level 18 wearing Ursine focus heavy strikes, with enough tolerance to have 2 concoctions up at once and still use potions. Playing on Blood and Broken Bones and crushing everything. I might turn it up to death march soon but just enjoying my newfound uber after a rough start on BB difficulty.

Do you mean that 7GB patch that is murdering console framerates? Makes me glad I play the game on PC. Though, this patch finally did fix my stats being absurdly high. No more one shotting everything is site.

Playing on PC as well. Did not know about the console problems. I knew about the dimetritium bomb stat bug though, cool they fixed that.
