I have time to post because, frankly, the game doesn't grab me in that "all my free time belongs to you" sort of way.

It did for me at first, but after spending the last five hours running around Novigrad doing mostly fetch quests (and going from level 13 to 15 in the process), I'm getting a bit bored. I finally had to head out into the wild to do some side content and clear some question marks. The main storyline quests could really do with some pacing adjustments.

Yeah, I've heard that if you do all of every zone you will over level. My head to Novigrad quest is level 10. But I felt like I still had too much to do in Velen. Like good fun stuff, contracts, and sidequests with story character NPC's etc. I have not even gone walking about to hunt ?'s in Velen just hitting them up as quests take me near.

Decided before I go to Novigrad I would go on walkabout. Having a lot of fun just questionmarking again. Lots of loot, neat random stuff.

And omfg LETHO! I sent his big grumpy **** to Kaer Mohran. Old enemies become old friends sometimes.

I'm farming lesser red mutagens so I can make a greater red mutagen and get the stupid fun powerful extra attack bonus. I site I found recommended a place out by the orphanage in the swamp that has a level 16 Fiend. The Fiend always drops one mutagen, but the color is random. It respawns after a quick two hour meditation. I've killed it about thirty times now and I've still got two more mutagens to go...

Yeah I read the same post. I was tempted to try it but I am still a bit low for level 16 Fiends. Red mutagens are crazy low drop rate for some reason. I think pretty soon I am going to go get the Feline School set armor. I have the plans for the Griffon but it does not seem worth it to make it now since i am 12 and it's level 8. I was using the level 4 relic armor set and serpent swords for ever but since I went on walkabout I have replaced most of them with random drops.

I still can't force myself to wear heavy armor that looks like Knight gear though. Just so un witcher like. I think I will stick with light and medium, I might even slot in those bonuses someday if I get enough slots.

Also wtf Velen? Why you no have places of power. (Very few on my walkabout so far) Pirates seem stronger than their level though, ran into multiple groups of them that were a decent fight.

Each Witcher school item can be upgraded three to four times. Right now I'm using most of the Enhanced Griffin set. I still need to get the diagrams for three of the pieces. The stats increase and they change appearance. The build on each other though, so you need to craft the base item to get the Enhanced, then the Superior will use the Enhanced, and if there is a Mastercrafted version, it will use the Superior.

Hmm, I do like spells so medium armor might be the way to go but something about the cat set just seems right. Decisions.

So I started on Blood and Bones difficulty thinking it was "normal". I died so much in the beginning, but once you hit a certain tipping point you can take things on 10+ levels ahead of yourself, especially if you plan ahead with the right oils/potions. And get good at knowing whether you should evade or dodge roll.

I found the potions tree to be overpowered though. The first one in the second rank down heals you 5/10/15/20/25% each time you use a potion. In combat I use Thunderbolt + Swallow (Or the heal one) Ive completely stopped using food at all.

Im currently 32 nearing the end I think. I did all the contracts I found, did most of the side quests. I missed a few that my wife ran across though. I did 80% of the ?s in Velen/Novigrad and just gave up In Skellig there are just so many. The morality choices are a pain they are never clear cut it seems and I've had me being nice come back to bite me in the ***.

As for red mutegens, don't ghouls drop them? Its pretty easy to find their nests. I may be wrong though. Atm Im in full Masterwork Feline gear (Light gear) with that Yellow talent that increases crit dmg 25% each piece of light gear, combined with the first talents of the top 2 rows of red. So my light attack crits a lot for considerable dmg.

I'm definitely going to replay with different choices after my initial play-though.

That's nuts Bean. You have been playing hard lol. I can relate, if I had the time I would probably be hitting it like that now as well. It's really quite amazing as far as rpg's go. But due to RL I am pacing myself a bit on this one so far. Not exactly by choice but waddyagonnado.

I've only gotten to wrapping up the Baron/Crone story lines and the "Haha, all your choices suck nice going idiot" cut scene. Level 10. Gonna hang around Velen for a bit and knock out some assorted side quests and contracts.

I've gotten good at demanding payment from everyone. Hey, it's my job. It's like calling pest control: "Hey, I have a possum in my attic nesting in the box of Christmas ornaments and need you to get it out. Oh, also, my kid has the fever so maybe you just want to do this for free? That's a thing you guys do, right? Free pest control for a sob story?"

Crafted full Griffon except for the steel sword. Short one monster eye, time to go hunting. Also got a bad **** samurai haircut and a shave to mutton chops, because reasons. Oxenfort was pretty cool. :)

I went with the "Short and loose" and trimmed beard. Because I'm not a homeless vagrant.

Social justice police here. Homeless vagrants can have many types of beards, stereo typer.

Also It turns out I had 11 Nekker eyes, I just did not realize I could deconstruct them to generic monster eyes. *derp

Full Griffin now! Fear mah signs intensity.

Edit: Rawr +84% after I picked up the medium armor skill.

More Strumpets! Also that quest with The Dreamer in Novigrad was amazing. The back story on Ciri was super cool, even more invested now.

What the Christ is the replacement birthrate in Witcher-land? I'm constantly tripping over piles of children's bones, children being sold to witches, children being eaten by monsters, children murdered by soldiers, children dying from some ritual or test, children left to wander the wilderness, etc. You probably have to have fifteen children for one to reach adulthood in this God forsaken land.

Level 15 now wearing full enhanced Griffin. Novigrad was a bit of a slog at times with the running but Pricilla's song in the bar kind of made up for it. I also am digging the story there. I went on walkabout again to get enhanced griffin and get out of the city and that helped mix it up. Respeced to tighten my build, digging it so far. Might go hunt the cat set and go near pure combat to get deep enough to try out whirl soon for variety.

I like the game. It's nice to pick up for a couple few hours but maybe not feel like an all consuming crack binge. Pretty much enjoy it every time I play. The pacing just makes me not in a hurry and more into the story most times.

I'm at 18 right now, but have stopped playing until they fix the XP bug. I did gather up all of the diagrams for the Cat set, but I'm sticking with Enhanced Griffin for now. Though I've already replaced both swords, so I don't know how much longer the rest will last.

I'm still 12 but only played an hour last night for the first time in three days. Not "I hate Witcher" related, just busy and/or sleepy

Speaking of the DLC that's the origin of this thread, I may be the last guy to know this, but you actually have to "buy" it via Steam/GOG and add it to your account to have it accessible. I assumed it was just part of the patching process.

I haven't really had problems with the xp bug. I've outleveled tons of quests anyway so If i was to be shorted a bit on a main it would be no big deal to me.

As for the DLC... I did not realize that either Joph. Not that I have been missing having it, but good to know if I want to dink around with it.

I beat it a few nights back(Sunday night), mind you I skipped most of the ? farming in Skellig. As soon as you hit a certain point they just start throwing xp at you. I ended at 35 but when I hit like 15 or so it became much faster to level. I have a play time of 38 hours (this might be off because my wife is playing on her PC and I wasn't logged into GoG at the time(remember Witcher 3 has no DRM).

I started a second game now on the 2nd difficulty level and Ive already ran across 2 quests I missed or didn't flag the first time through the first area. This time Im going to hit every ? as they open up and all quests right away(level appropriate).
