Since you're doing a quality build, clear all of World 2 immediately, and then go do Oscar of Ostrava's questline in World 1. That will net you the Pure Clearstone you'll need for your weapon. World 4 is the next easiest after Minecraft, then World 3, then World 5. Save World 1 for last as the final boss is the leader of that area.

I'd agree with the "clear all of act 2 first" part. And going for the clearstone isn't a bad idea. Area 4-2 is very easy souls early on with a bow(you run down, kill a single enemy and then jump off a cliff to reset). Area 4-1 is super easy if you use the skip(go to the far side of the first ramparts and jump over). If you don't use it, prepare to deal with those stupid flying things, but still not that bad. If you don't have a smashing weapon, bare fists is actually pretty damn good on the skeletons. Or 2H your shield.

Use the Dragon Bone Smasher from 4-3, it looks like a sword but it does blunt damage.

Excellent choice if you can afford the encumbrance. It weighs what, 20 or so?

Yeah 20, but IIRC you can two-hand to cut down on the requirements just like DS1/DS2.

Got to Flame lord, was doing just fine with thief ring and bow. Did not have enough arrows. Decided to give him the SWS with winged spear and got worked. Smiley: lol

So farming a bit to try and get a purple flame shield but more importantly a full compliment of arrows. DeS is awesome so far, so glad you talked me into taking the plunge.Smiley: smile

I think that only works for the Str requirement. I don't think it does anything to the Item Burden or Equip Burden.

If you trigger the Red Dragons strafing run on World 1-1's bridge while completely unequipped, you can sprint back to the Blue Dragon area and grab the Purple Flame Shield on the ground along with the Equip Boost ring near the Blue Dragon's tail.

Alternatively, just go to 1-2 and kill it with a bow. Bring lots of arrows and a clever rat's ring if you have one.

You know, I'm seeing about the same amount of invasions as always, but it seems like there's a lot less Jolly Cooperation. I only managed to find one person for O&S(and he died three seconds into the fight, forcing me to solo it anyway) and couldn't find anyone for Artorias(took a couple tries, but I think that was my first solo kill on him). It isn't taking all that super long to get summoned when I drop a sign, so at least there's that.

I got into the series late so I never co-oped in DS1. I always soloed all of it. I did not start jolly co-op until DS2, but it is super fun. I think I enjoy helping even more than being helped. I've hung out on some of the tough bosses not because I need the souls but just because I could feel the joy when someone got them down.

Blood Donations in Denmark Skyrocket.

If Playstation US got together with a blood donation charity here and did something similar, I'd donate blood to get free games.

How many times did the dragon punch you to death? Smiley: wink As an aside: My favorite memory of that fight is the time I was running a high HP Brushwood run and just popped a (new moon?) grass every time he punched me and slow walked my way to victory.

Finished DS(didn't go down Great Hollow, but otherwise all zones). One-shotted a number of bosses that used to give me trouble, including Manus. Soloed pretty much everything. Was feeling like I might actually be kinda good at this game. Started DS2. Died four times in Things Betwixt(okay, one was because I hit Circle instead of Down+Circle on a ladder because that's what you do in DS). Ego deflated. Smiley: tongue

He smashed me a couple of times before I took off my armor and 2 handed my claymore to get past the obstacles faster. I have fallen to my death at least 3 times so far in Tower of Latria.

One time was right after I read a warning message to beware of drop. While I was falling I had the thought "Oh that drop". Smiley: blush

I'm going to have a really hard time laying off on Bloodborne while the hype train is rolling this hard. Smiley: glare Have not even finished DeS yet.

The want is so strong though.

Maybe this is a thing?

If it helps, I'm hearing that a fair number of people aren't happy with the fact that Bloodborne took one single play style from DS(no shield berserker melee) and made it the only play style.

Honestly, I do think that's a loss. It's some kind of philosophical statement about passivity that I don't think anyone needs to learn. After all the souls hours I have I can play either fast light dodge poker or heavy shield tank. Most of my melee guys had sets for both styles because some bosses were better to tank and others were better to dodge.

I like more options for styles to try not less. But there is the gun, which is apparently a stun and CC thing and useful because you face more mobs at a time. I'll reserve judgement until I play it.

I just beat the dolly in Latria last night, so I got some good amount DeS left yet anyway.

And with that, DS2: Scholar of the First Sin(PS3 version) is complete. One roommate has gotten too frustrated with BB to play anymore. The other has a different sleep schedule than we do. So I guess it's time for me to start.

Tell him to just leave the game on for 12+ hours before playing.

Did you play the one with the new mob placements and such? How did you like it.

As for BB I'll be curious about your impressions. So far I think it's definitely challenging. But I have heard it smooths out after the first couple of bosses. I did not mind the challenge though so far. Will post an update in other thread in a bit.

Nah, I had the one that was on PS3 because we already had the expansions and thus got the patch for free.

I'm kinda considering doing boss kill vids for BB. But since I'm sure I'm going to have to level grind to manage the game like I did with DeS the first time, I think I'll title them something like: "HOW TO: Noob Mode Bloodborne". Every video will start with a death and grinding montage. Maybe I'll even use Eye of the Tiger for the montage.

Nothing wrong with grinding a bit. If you go into it thinking "Im'a a souls vet I got this" you will get spanked like I did at first. Smiley: lol
