Yeah I know I thought of that when I bought it til I looked up and read that its a Rebranded LG tv, pretty much LG sold them their old internal boards and stuff and they slapped an Insignia tag on it. I could link the reviews I read about it and Its like 50 5 star 35 4 star like 14 2 or 3 stars and like 7 one star. And the one stars are stupid, "It doesnt look good with 480 no matter the settings I use" Well duh its 480, and even then I think standard Def looks fine on it.
Actually doing my research on the TV I found out that alot of "No name" Brands do this, they buy last seasons parts from the big guys toss them in a tv with their logo on it and ship it out.
Idk I just needed to vent.
As for you never owning one I thought the same thing until I saw the picture on it. The ONLY TV I saw at Best Buy/ Walmart/ Target that looked better was a Samsung Aqous and they wanted something like 1200 for the same size in 120hz. If I could magically poof up 400 dollars I wouldnt sell this Tv cause I love the picture (I often use it as a 2nd monitor; extended or duplicate) and it look 50% better then my 23 inch Acer LED monitor. The colors are way more vibrant, and the lines are way crisper (120Hz is awesome too). I'm not trying to convert anyone cause the tvs they may have out now are sh*t. Kind of like Sony used to be "the brand" and now its Samsung and most Sony stuff is crap (Their Tvs suck now the picture always looks grainy or fuzzy on every sony I've seen)
Aquos is made by Sharp, not Samsung. I've owned one, and it was a great TV until the inverter board went out. I have plans to replace the board and fix the TV, but I bought a new one in the meantime anyway.
Insignia is owned by Westinghouse/Siemens. What little bit of googling I did, and I'll admit it wasn't much as I have no dog in this fight, they have about a 40% failure rate. That's high...for any brand.
