I'm trying to play EQ2 again but have an error that I hope someone may have seen before
"Failed to Init Arial. You may need to reboot for some fonts to load."
I actually stopped playing last Dec because of this and uninstalled the game.
I reinstalled it but I still get the error..it seemed to start after an update post expansion..Just looking for help (I have an email sent to tech support)

Thanks for your help with this..but it didnt work.
I even rebooted in safe mode like the thread suggested.
I have no idea whats up here but no EQ2 for me it appears.
I''m even having trouble with another soe game (SWG), I recently started playing that again downloaded it thru the station launcher fine..but now when I try to log on it has an 18 hour update, seems like its trying to re download the game..

Fixed the SWG issue, just had to move a folder..but the EQ2 thing is still there :(

I found that reinstalling (doing a "Repair" from the original CD-ROM) of Microsoft Office to fix this problem. The error is stating that it is unable to render the True Type font "Ariel". You can also use the "expand" command from the cmd window to extract the font from the Office CD but that's a bit more complex solution.
You Think installing and useing Mozilla Firefox as my browser may have caused it?

I've been using FF for years as my main browser. The /browser feature is embedded in-game does not IE or FF.

We'll can put this to close now, I got it fixed and am in game as I type.
The font that you downloaded from the link above wasn't the correct one it
seems..so I found another "arial" download from the site called Arialb which is arial black..
so unless this was just a fluke that was it.
