No Snare?Follow

I heard that Necromancers no longer get snare/dot spells such as Embracing Darkness in EQ 2? Is that true and is kiting no longer a tactic used in EQ2 to solo mobs. Thanks,

Here is a spell list of Necro's. Keep in mind that it may not have the most recent changes, but it is pretty accurate.

Kiting is still possible, but not to the extent of EQ1. The snares work, but fail more often and are shorter, so you must be more careful. And with a pet you are still kiting, in a way. The most I can kite effectively is 2, maybe 3 mobs. Beyond that I'm overwhelmed with trying to keep up the snares.

A very successful way of kiting with the pet is to use the "agro-free" technique. It goes like this:
- Pet attack 1 mob in a group
- Mob lands damage, they all run to you (except for the one engaging the pet)
- Target next mob and pet-attack.
- 2nd mob now turns on pet, others are still running to you or already on you.
- Pet attack each mob in turn until they are all on the [pet].
- Assist the pet with damage spells and pet heals.

Expect to take some hits until all the mobs are on the pet. Then watch the pet health bar carefully. THis works with normal mobs, I can handle about 3. But if I try heroic, I get my Erudite tush handed to me.

Edited for correct data (pet vice mob).

My pleasure.

An update to my root: today I was in Lavastorm (tier 5 zone) and went to recast my root when I noticed that I still had lots of time left on it. When I recast, to my surprise, it had a 45 second duration in it! That is definately good news and will open up some kiting. Looks like I got a stealth upgrade. :)

You will find that loot comes in a slow trickle. In fact, in the early months of the game, it was a big deal when I got my first gold piece in the bank.

There are many quests to do that will get you armor, weapons, food, drink, bags, and even furniture for your room. The loot drops from the mobs don't sell for much, especially in the lower zones.

But don't dispair. Even though you will have mediocre gear, you are fighting mediocre mobs with few special abilities. As you gain levels and fight bigger things, they will become much tougher.

So when you arrive in your city, hail every NPC you can find and fill up your quest log. You can even get to level 13'ish just by doing quests.

You have a trait called Vitality that gives you a exp bonus when fighting. When you kill something, you lose Vitality, The bigger the mob, the more Vitality you will loose. On the up side, Vitality regenerates .7% every hour regardless if you are on or offline.

The long math equates to about 1 week to regen a full 100% Vitality.

This feature is to balance the grinders with the casual players and allow the casual players to keep par. If you grind mobs for 8 hours a day, you will quickly be down to 0 Vitality. From then you get normal exp for everything. You can't go below 0%.

Have you picked a server? Najena is a good one (shameless plug).
