Just remember, there are no bad classes, only bad players. ;) Its really just a matter of preference when choosing from those paths. Ranger is very good at dealing out extreme damage, is the best at ranged combat, so is a good choice if you like using a bow.

Swashbuckler is still very good DPS, and has some utility that the Ranger doesnt. I havent played with many Swashbucklers myself so I can't give you a very good description other than that, but evryone that I have managed to speak with enjoys the class.

Bard path seems to be pretty cool. You'll sacrifice some personal damage that the Ranger and Swashbuckler have, in order to enhance your group, and increase everyone's DPS.

So take a look at those, and some other suggestions and decide what you want to do from there.

well picking your class path to go on is pretty hard. i picked mine pretty easy cause i saw assasin and that just sounded cool. now with my fighter i made it took me 3 remakes to finalize his class i started with warrior then moved to brawler then ended up with crusader. you should go with what sounds the most fun to you cause its going to be your guy for the next 50 lvls unless you get bored like i do and have to play alts lol. ive tried a rogue and they can do some nice damage i havent tried a bard yet but im going to spend my last slot to make one to try out, and my assasin is pretty fun to play i can solo fairly easy and i get some nice sneaking abilitys with him which come in handy to get by mobs i dont feel like dealing with

swash/brigand = one of the best class's for dps because they do high consistant damage and have abilitys of group stealth mez(swash) feign death (brigand) taunts etc, they made rogues a very multi class in eq2

assassin = very good also for dps but theres is'nt as consistant as swash/brigand but they have some very high damage attacks

rangers = great ranged dps and decent melee dps

troub/dirge low dps but VERY needed they not only play haste mana regen songs but can also add procs etc to the fight

any would be a good choice, but its all personal preferance as to what you would like to spend you bazillion hours on eq playing.. best advice i can give is ask higher lvls what they think of the class and just go with what you think sounds the best.........

hope it helped some

i have a ran and i must say i love it its fun using a bow but sometimes i get bored of standing back like a caster and its nice that u have some meele atks so its fun having both types of atks.....
so if i had to choose again i would suggest a predator

Sneaky
Unrest

Not quite sure where this belongs so i'm gonna stick it here and a few other places and see what happens!

Are there any beastlord classes in EQ2? i loved the one i had in EQ but the population kinda died for lvl 30 and i get bored solo alllll the time. So exc the summoner styles (i presume these are just magicians and necro type thing where you stand back and let the pet tank) is there a beastlord class or path?

Cheers

There's no beastlord in EQ2. The closest you could get would be to play one of the pet classes you mentioned, play a mystic/defiler, or play a monk/bruiser. All of those classes contributed something to the beastlord class in EQ1.
