I think we can all agree it's hilarious that they are adding to the WotG quest given the long-time complaints about how long it took to finish the storyline... lol

I imagine it'll be some sort of Apocalypse Nigh style capstone quest, which hopefully involves beating up Atamos and turning it into a pokem--I mean avatar for SMNs.

[dev1234] New High-Tier Mission Battlefields

  • ★Trial by Fire / ★Trial by Ice / ★Trial by Wind / ★Trial by Earth / ★Trial by Lightning / ★Trial by Water

In these battlefields, adventurers will square off against Ifrit Prime, Shiva Prime, Garuda Prime, Titan Prime, Ramuh Prime, and Leviathan Prime, respectively.

  • Joining the Fray
The key items required to participate in these battlefields can be acquired from the following NPCs in exchange for merit points.
  • Trisvain in Northern San d’Oria (J-7)
  • Raving Opossum in Port Bastok (J-11)
  • Mimble-Pimble in Port Windurst (L-5)

  • Required key items

Key Item	Number of Merit Points Required
Avatar Phantom Gem	20

* Players must be level 95 or greater and have cleared all six of the “Trial by” or “Trial Size Trial by” quests in order to receive these items; it does not matter if players have completed all “Trial bys,” all “Trial Size Trial bys” or a mixture of the two types.

  • Regarding Difficulty Levels
Each mission battlefield is divided into five levels of difficulty. Boss strength, number and drop rate of spoils, and content level increase in line with difficulty.

Difficulty	Content Level
Very Easy	113
Easy 116
Normal 119
Difficult Greater than 119
Very Difficult	Greater than 119

* Any player may select a difficulty level, but the battlefield's level will be determined by the first person to enter.
* Players must have cleared the battlefield on normal to select either difficult or very difficult.
* All party members must be in possession of the required key item to enter.

  • Mission battlefield, boss, and entry restrictions

  • Spoils
Spoils are rewarded both for vanquishing the boss and clearing the battlefield, and include items needed for reforging artifact and relic armor in addition to equipment unique to each battlefield.

Not really how long it took the players to finish the story but how long SE took to finish adding the story was the problem.

Good stuff for most everything I'm kinda impressed. About the only meh spot is Atomos being lack luster given astral flow only.

Also I think I seen a suggestion on the official forums saying all jobs should be boosted to A+ on their primary weapon class. Most likely a coincidence but could be the devs listening, one can only hope.

It's kinda funny that back in the 75 days I was like "it's such crap THF doesn't have A+ in dagger, wtf." And now that we're finally getting it I look it up and it's still only a 7 skill difference at 99 like it was at 75. And now it's kinda like "Really? Only 6-7 acc/attack?"

It's also heartbreaking to see Thief up there on the changes but have the least changes made, lol.

This is pretty huge, the first change that will have a lasting impact on DNC in all this petty **** they keep trying to mess with.

This has me going o_O; If the new Shurikens are easy enough to get, does that mean with capped attack speed I'll basically automatically throw a shuriken every 1.5 seconds?

And would it stack with Mikage? That means I could potentially just draw my weapons and attack 8-9 times a round+throw shurikens like crazy? That would be absolutely devastating as long as Utsusemi stayed up. Shadows would probably get stripped every two seconds anyway.

The GEO addition is a much welcomed one if it means we can cast two indi spells. This helps out in fights where we can't stand next to the melees to give them Indi Buffs along with Geo Buff/Debuff. Also it means for roaming events we can put up an Indi-Aura around a melee for 3.5/10 minutes. Not happy about the recast but it will add some much needed flexibility to GEO.

Love the skill cap increases, esp for PUP and DNC. For a healer that MUST melee to be able to heal, having B+ always sounded LOL-worthy to me, because 6-7ACC is actually a pretty big deal when you were doing VT-IT back during the day. Always thought that was stupid.

Don't suppose they could give BST archery skill while we're at it. Kind of ridiculous that we're on a lot of bows and arrows but can't hit the broad side of a barn...

To be fair though, that was due to XIV 1.0's production. Prior to that it never took them long at all to finish an expansion storyline.

Wait what? Those capes could be augmented?

Well, ****, that's news to me

Seems the augmented ones are Incursion drops, and would be why the rare tag got removed from the capes. Oh well :< That's not something I'm gonna be able to do anytime soon

YES!

This will make doing Gardens a lot faster and easier.

The only thing is, I wonder how it will handle weeds/trees... you walk up to a tree and whack it all 10 times or does it randomly give you some tree, some weeds?

I always found it interesting how many H2H BST are on. No martial arts, no H2H skill. Not that I think it needs it, axe is a better fit, just an oddity that they continue to implement even on newer equipment.

But yeah, honestly, I think they dropped the ball with the whole BST not having archery skill & weapon-skills, it was a good fit for the job and 'could' have made it a bit more 'wow-hunter-esque', which was an extremely popular job because it really made the idea of "attacking from a distance" shine, where the pet could very logically be sent in to tank an enemy while you fired shots from a distance.

I like the new Noob Icon. I actually have two of those on my car. For those who don't know, that symbol in Japan is used for "beginner drivers".
