I'm hoping there is a source that gives at least rough stats for mercs. I'm looking for estimated HP/DPS/AC - per level or per every five levels.

Anything anywhere?

Help me Obi-Wan Yther!!!

LOL. I've never seen any. Heard of people working on it, but they've never published anything I've seen. Probably gave up on it after a few levels.

I might see about making some tables to put on or link to the mercenaries wiki page that people could edit in the details.

Merc Stats is a start. I'm going to finished re-arrange it, so that the HP, Regen, Mana, FT, etc. are at the top and sortable against the various Tiers and types and level of mercs. I just did it like that to get the basics down. Once I looked at it, it became clear it needed to be different for comparisons.

Got any ideas on how to determine the values? PvP and first snaring or other non-damage debuff to keep them in combat mode, and then nuking them while Passive and noting how much damage was done and what % it took them too, should give a good idea of HPs after a few different nukes (average 4 or 5 or more of them out). Same thing, but see how many seconds it takes to completely regen and average the HP Regen per Second out for Regen. Similar thing for Mana, but using a Mana drain nuke.

Mitigation, Avoidance, (not sure if we can estimate AC, but maybe from mitigation and avoidance percentages), and DPS, would be merc vs merc, same level, one on passive, the other not and manual assist. Not sure if any parsers can automatically figure up mitigation, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure it up, from the offensive ones, base damage and damange bonus calculations, then comparing that to the average hit on the defensive ones, to see what part of the 1-20 random damage bonus they're getting hit with. Most parsers do avoidance %, and most do DPS, so that part would be pretty easy from the parse.

Got any other ideas? I'd thought about breaking it down farther into separate races, just to be sure, there weren't any differences, but figured, I'd just go like this until an error appeared with one or more races, since the developers say, they're exactly the same other than an illusion of race.

EDIT: What's really sad, is I used to do this kinda stuff all the time, although not on such a grand scale as almost all mercs, but researching stuff and doing lots of parses and the like. I just can't seem to make myself do it any more. :( And just wondering about other ideas, as I'll put general instructions on the bottom of the page for anyone that wants to do any of the work. Oops, just realized I didn't put a set of levels in there either. Hmm.

I think instead of same Tier, everything should be vs. a Journeymen Tier 1 merc, so the comparing different tiers would be more accurate and valuable.

EDIT: Had to edit to add signature. Always though of myself more as Yoda without the dangling participle speak, but Ohi Wan works. They're both wise. :) As bad as my typing is now though, Yoda maybe still a better fit.

Yeah, I'm necro-posting, live with it! Smiley: lol

I've never been a big fan of mercs, since I have boxed since almost the beginning and for a long time boxed my own group (and without any "enhancements", btw.)

But I'm playing a lot more casually these days and I'm enjoying completing old Hunter achievements, soloing with my druid or sometimes moloing with my warrior merc.

Look, reality is, as many players state it indecorously, mercs kinda suck. They may be OK at lower levels but at 110 my real warrior is at least 10x better than my merc, probably 100x if I play him attentively and use all his discs and aa's. The one thing the merc is good at is holding aggro so I can cast spells without interruption and not get summoned. Mercs are pretty good at holding aggro. My warrior merc's max hit is 2844 and my 110 warrior does that much damage accidentally by sneezing during a fight. Almost...

I too am curious about merc stats and if there's any way to boost them beyond buffs. I actually tried to give summoned weapons to my merc (showing how little I knew about them) but he returned them politely telling me he has no need for such items. Nah, you really do, Merc Boy! Then I tried to give him a "real" warrior weapon and he returned that too. Merc Boy, how you going to do damage without upgrading your equipment! Four merc armor slots isn't going to cut it!

The stats table mentioned here is woefully incomplete. Indeed, it's basically never been started. But I know why: it's a ton of work to get this data. I really wish DBG would let us inspect our mercs and see what merc gear is all about. And maybe eventually let us outfit our mercs from top to bottom as well as improve their weaponry. Then they'd be a bit more useful than they are. Actually, a lot more...

PS

Actually the merc button is a step in the right direction. But the stats supplied do show how lame mercs are. He's got 118k HPs without buffs and without his 4 merc slot jewelry pieces and that's pretty sad for a 110 warrior.
