I have discovered an ancient Halasian gravestone. The name on the head stone reads, 'Dun McDowell.' The images carved into the stone suggest that the man lost gems in a sea filled with sharks.
I collected all of the gems from the bottom of the chilly sea.
I buried the gems at the gravestone of Dun McDowell.I retrieved the Gems of the Rose from the sea floor and buried them at Dun McDowell's grave. I get the feeling I appeased his spirit.

I did the same,i spent quite awhile swimming around doing all the quests but no gems.They have either been moved to the northern ocean or more likely not been put in since everfrost revamp.

I was just about to move on to another quest when I found one of the gems near the cave in the water. After that I have not been able to find any more of them though. They are still there, just harder to find and it would not surprise me if the chests are sitting on top of them.

Anyone know if this quest is broken? I have been swimming around for over an hour now and I can't find even one. I did find 2 black dots on one of the isles east of the dock but I can't pick them up.

The gems are little black dots, they contrast well with the ground. However, they don't have words appear above them like most ground spawns. Once I knew what to look for I got all of the gems in 10 minutes. Do the Daelic's Bones quest at the same time.

This is the most ridiculous piece of crap quest in the history of mmorpg. ive been swimming around the islands east zi...going to every loc posted in this thread....swimming randomly around the bay for 5 hours. i have 3 gems. yay SOE. if i wasnt so bent on completing it now due to this nonsense i would just give up.

Yeah, I remember doing this one and being pretty frustrated as well.
There is another one like it in Sinking Sands in the Damsel in Distress/Godking quest line where you have to find camel food on the bottom of the ocean.

Several of these locations are good, it takes a very and I mean very long time to just randomly swim in the bay and hope to see an item that is surprisingly similar to the ground around it.
Took me a very long time to finish, definitely the worst of the five quests in the series.

I have just checked every loc posted here for the GEms and found none, zilch, zero, not an electronic sausage!. I have found one purely by accident, The bones were easier to find, by tab cycling! Sorry this isn't much help :( PS Totem of the otter is a cheap way of breathing under water

The gems can not be tab-targeted, however if you have sonicvision it will flood the screen yellow. The gems however will remain dark black, giving a much better constrast then useing normal vison.

Ok, this quest is driving me nuts. Playing on Darathar PVP servera dn I've been circkling, zig-zaging, checking known locations and swimminga t random for hour after hour and ahve never ever seen a single gem or bone or whatever...
Am I missing something or is this quest broken on PVP servers??

Ditto Tlerrath - the spawn points for this and sunken bones are the same. I wandered the area for around an hour, all I saw was 'sunken bones' - at some point, many (I didn't check all) of the points that Chrysanthemum mentioned (that I previoiusly saw sunken bones) changed to gems.
You can pick up all 5 gems from the bottom. No sharks need be harmed in the completion of this quest.

i have found all my gems swimming laps around the dock island while in sneak and with haddens earing. i need one more and i have been looking around for hours. do you really need to kill a shark for last gem?

It appears these share the same spawn points as the "sunken bones" the "Daelic's Bones" quest.

Finding gems is easy if u have plenty of light 2 torches and light stone circled the 2 islands right of zone took 10 min tops.

I've seen a few people ask what these look like - i've taken a screenshot, not sure if you want to include it or not - please let me know if u want me to email it. In addition it may be of not that this item does not show up when you TAB thru your targets.

I found them all around the two little islands at the right side of dock (invis and Aquarespiration is usefful)
