The coin given to my level 7 was 1s 1cp. And yes, you only receive the footman's buckler as a reward, no other so looks like the rewards will have to be fixed.

Just finished this quest. He just gave me a footman's buckler. No choice. Roughly the same as my crude elm round shield. (+3 Health, 19 Protection, 2.0 Weight). Didn't look at what the coin was...

Recently did this quest with my wife. It's changed quite alot. The rewarded coin is now around 1s 22c.

When we claimed the quest items, we were well below each items required level to use. The use on the buckler was Level 14 and the rest of the items were Level 20. Better equipment can be obtained by those levels so we ended up selling our items for silver.

With the coin and selling of the reward items, this is now strictly a quick money quest for low level players.

I have never ran into the Matriarchs as grouped mobs. Sure, they are difficult to take down solo but you can do it by level 7 or so.

I recieved a choice of shields or symbol. I would rate this an 8-9. Easy and good equipment choice. Just make sure to examine each item so you know which one you have enough skill in.
